And right on cue, the white guy is the butt of the jokes and the black guy is superior.
Everything woke goes to shite.
And it's a shame really. I like the idea and I collected a ton of GL comics back in the day. But Hollywood can't fricking help themselves. They HAVE to repeat THE MESSAGE.

So many people in the thread dumping on it but I think it looks pretty great. I also just like Kyle Chandler in most everything he’s in so…

Does that mae any better?

He probably wasn't even born when Stewart took over.

Yeah? You preferred the Snyderverse version of this show that was to center a secretly gay lantern working with Guy Gardner, who would be there to satirize 80s American patriotism and masculinity?
That's what was happening before Gunn came in and got the current writers to retool it.

Ah, yeah, just what I wanted, let's take Green Lantern and put him in a small town and attempt a knock-off version of True Detective.

The series could not make use of the main Green Lanterns from the comic books, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, because they were being reserved for DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films.[30] Instead, the series was set to explore other Green Lanterns from the comics, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Alan Scott, Kilowog, and new Green Lanterns created for the series.[29]
Snyder had nothing to do with it, he was just letting them make a show. The real lanterns were off limits for the DCEU

The Snyderverse was bleak and depressing. Like if your local emo kids were making their own comic.
Gunn’s take is hardly perfect but I’ll take an idealistic Superman over a nihilistic one any day.

Warner Bros Discovery buying out HBO was one of the worst things to have happened to the company.
This comment maks no sense. WB would have owned DC even without buying HBO.

Snyder Superman was nihilistic?

Did we watch the same trailer. I got more of a old guy that needs to retire vs young guy that wants to take his job vibe

That's exactly what it was. Until/Unless we start seeing "you don't know what it's like to be a black man" tropes being trotted out, I'm not seeing the "woke" here.
I liked that there wasn't a constant CGI-gasm, but there needs to at least be a slim aura and small light trail when Hal flew (unless they're going on the idea that the GL can control the brightness of their light without impacting strength, which might be an interesting expansion of the power).

Is this supposed to be set in a different universe than Superman, because where in the world is Guy Gardner.
