I still think North and South is the greatest miniseries of all time. It's up to you to decide if Book 2 was even better. I prefer the former. (The 3rd installment was a complete train wreck.)

What does that have to do with anything at all?

Because the biggest fascination of the book and miniseries was the "fact" that it was a true story.
I was in HS at the time amd it was required watching by a history teacher in HS.

Don't sell it a true story/event if its made up bullshite by an author who was successfully sued for plagerism over the book.

I agree with all of this.

The Civil War (Ken Burns)
I've watched at least a couple of episodes of that every time it's been aired, after watching every minute of the original broadcast. It never fails to resonate with me.

World at War
Watched this one back in the 70s when it first came out but haven't seen it since. Need to buy the DVD set and rewatch it. I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more now that I know how historically ignorant I was when I was in high school.

Firefly
I missed this one when it first aired, and about 4 years ago my then 12-year-old daughter discovered it because it was by the same guy who did Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She absolutely loved it, and I remember her coming to me after finishing the last episode and saying, "what a great show! I can't wait to watch season 2!"

I'm not the most religious person in the world, but I thought The Bible on history channel was outstanding. It will stand up for years to come IMO.

I Claudius. I must have watched this one 10 - 15 times, and I never get bored with it.

According to that show, Samson was a big black dude with dreadlocks.

I mean, wouldn't he have been Arab with olive skin?

No, he was an Israelite.

Perhaps, although I don't agree (about that being the "biggest fascination").

Band of Brothers

Those stand up well. Especially Dove.

I'm not a huge fan of Shogun on a repeat viewing. For the time it was amazing, but some of the acting / direction doesn't stand the test of time.

One that really fails is V. I can barely watch it. The production values, direction and acting are horrible. Hard to see how it was such a hit.
