Paramount TV Studios shuts down amid budget cuts

I guess throwing money at Time Bandits was not exactly a good decision.

Paramount Television Studios, a production facility originally aimed at getting Paramount Pictures back into the business of making TV series, will shut down, the latest bout of cost cutting by parent corporation Paramount Global as it seeks to eliminate $500 million amid a chaotic shift in the entertainment industry.
All current series and development projects made under the Paramount Television Studios umbrella will move to CBS Studios.
The new Paramount Television Studios helped boost the movie studio, which aimed to find ways to make programs tied to its many famous films, including the Jack Ryan spy movies or "The Godfather." With more newly launched streamers hungry for content, the operating theory was that the new studio could help Paramount strike alliances with a bevy of new broadband players hungry for content.
Under its aegis, the company produced "The Offer," an insider tale of the making of the landmark movie, for Paramount+; and series based on Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan character for Amazon Prime Video. Other series it produced include "The Spiderwick Chronicles for Roku and a revival of the Terry Gilliam movie "Time Bandits" that is now a series on Apple's streaming service.

I can’t speak for the Star Trek shows, but I think the only thing they had left worth carrying over was Mayor of Kingstown with Renner.

Excellent.
Streaming made too many companies think they needed mass quantity shows instead of quality shows.
Stop approving everything pitched by random Tom, Dick, and Harry that strolls in talking with empty buzzwords. Stop trying to make established IPs be content farms with diminishing returns.

I wonder how this will impact Strange New Worlds. I know Lower Decks (a guilty pleasure) is on its final season and Picard has wrapped up (giving us the redeeming S3).
Are the Star Trek properties tethered to this? I wonder if they'll be sold to someone else to run (like Netflix or Amazon).

Discovery alone was enough to shut down all of Paramount.

I would think the "keepers" will be moved to CBS Studios

No. They are produced by CBS studios.
Paramount TV hasn't been around very long. The produced Reacher and Jack Ryan for Amazon, so I doubt Time Bandits killed the whole studio. Paramount is in cost cutting mode.

Seems odd to me that they felt they needed two to begin with.

The Offer was a fantastic show

I tried watching that, made it only through the first episode. It came across as a Nickelodeon sitcom with a vastly larger budget but without a studio audience nor occasional sexual innuendo.

Hope this doesn't screw up Tulsa King.

Yeah same here.
Unless they were thinking if they made a separate one for the shows they wanted to shop or make for other studios/streaming services they could eventually make deal for shopping the entire studio library to the highest bidder in one big swoop for more money vs individual shows.

I watched these shows recently on Freevee and they were great. Paramount puts out some good stuff but they just can't compete with everything else.

We knocked out 1883 (meh) and 1923 (not bad) but i dropped it a week beforehand and had no regrets.
Finally fix Halo and then drop immediately after.
