Some of the weapons looked slightly anachronistic.

Sounds like a few producers or writers were smoking pot one day,
and the idea started as a goof..,

Ari Gold is there. I had no idea he was a Vietnam vet before going Hollywood.

So, Kong: Skull Island sans Kong.

Cool.

*how does that get a DV?

It’s identical to the plot of Skull Island. Without Kong.

Which is great, by the way.

FINALLY Hollywood figured out what kind of movie I want to see! That looks awesome. Even if it sucks, it’s probably the fun kind of bad.

excellent use of “fortunate son”
wasn’t there a thread on here a while back where a poster was friends with the guy who wrote the book or screenplay or something?

Saw it last night, enjoyed it. Fun movie.

Liked it more than anything Jurassic World has put out recently. I am biased though.

Yes. This is what Hollywood has been missing. Yes I want great movies with great actors like “There Will Be Blood” but I understand those are very rare. That’s what makes them so memorable and great. But when I’m not getting those give me entertainment for entertainments sake without pushing political agendas down my throat, and this movie looks entertaining.

I've been waiting on a thread for this. Looks like a great "don't think about it too hard" movie. Plan to go see it with the wife soon.

Absolutely loved the first book and novella that chronologically followed the first book. I have the second, but am holding off to tamp down dinosaur name fatigue.
The books are fast, ruthless, and gory af, but the hardest thing was silently pronouncing the Dino names as the books progressed. Can’t wait to see this.

how do they explain the large population of dinosaurs living in veitnam that nobody knew about? i'm guessing it has something to do with the son doong cave which wasn't discovered until 1990.

That is a big spoiler crucial to what is going on and what the missions morph to.
