I thought about posting this in the Politics Board but Star Trek Wisdom may escape some of them. This scene show Quark taking a Vulcan to School over logic.

DS9 often sits at the back burner to many people because it's not the Enterprise and doesn't have Kirk or Picard, but Quark and Garak are the two best written characters in Star Trek.

DS9 is great. It did a great job of expanding on known races like the Ferengi and the Cardassians while also introducing new bad arse enemies like the 3 main races that made up The Dominion.

Sisko could solve the war in Ukraine, with his pimp hand.

And DS9 did first what JK Rowling did later with Umbridge... They gave us Kai Winn. While she wasn't the main villain, you very much wanted her to suffer and die worse than the main baddies.

I'm not arguing with you but I'll throw The Doctor from Voyager in there as well.

If only Kanye had seen this episode. He'd have known never to trust a Kardashian.

DS9 was anti-Roddenberry Star Trek. It was created so that writers wouldnt have the constraints of Gene’s utopian ideas, and could have good ole’, greed, lust, and corruption for story materiel again.

More of a discussion of diplomacy and bargaining than logic. It’s clear that the Vulcan did not have the information to see the larger picture. Quark did.

Are you saying that Next Gen was utopian in comparison to TOS and DS9? Because TOS hit on greed, lust, and corruption often (and in the case of Mudd's Women, all in one episode), and NG had their share of episodes dealing with those topics.

I tend to agree with this, TOS also delved into racism with "Let This be Your Last Battlefield".

They didn't exactly hide from touchy subjects though they were probably a bit less blatant about it

The Mark of Gideon was a very pro-life episode

Eh, it was created because Straczynski came up with a damn good idea and they ripped it off from him. It branched off on it's own and was a great series too, but they straight ripped that s**t off to create the show.

DS9 got going first is probably why, but JMS was bringing his B5 show bible that had the whole overarching plot around Hollywood and even to Paramount to pitch it as a Star Trek show since the 80s. Paramount execs definitely lifted some things from it when steering the direction of DS9, how much is up for debate. JMS said publicly it wasn’t worth taking them to court because it would have been unproductive.
