I told my wife he was getting ready to Rambo, but he never did. He hurt them, but he did not kill them

Just finished watching this. Not bad. I wanted more arse-kicking than he did.

Yeah, I enjoyed it but thought the finale was underwhelming. It was probably more realistic, but I would have preferred to see some asses more thoroughly whupped.

The third act was drug out too long, and was too full of cliches. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but there are three that are there, when one would have sufficed.

Even with that said, it’s an entertaining movie worth a watch.

It was an entertaining watch. Can’t help but wonder about the title and if there was originally a different ending in mind (trying to be vague to avoid spoilers)

Heck, I don’t think it actually spoils anything to say. When the bad guys/good guys want to meet at the end, they set it up for a place called “Rebel Ridge”. I don’t recall any other reference to the place throughout the rest of the movie.

The could have called it “Jones’s Ridge”, “Red Ridge”, “Oak Ridge” or anything else for as much as it seemingly had to do with the plot of the movie.

This was generic Netflix garbage.

To me it had a "First Blood" vibe to it. I know, not the same but I kept thinking about it.

I thought the same thing. I kinda liked it tho

I hear ya, but the cops in this weren’t evil like they are in most revenge flicks we see. So going all Gerard Butler or Liam Neeson wouldn’t have made sense, because they didn’t deserve that and we wouldn’t have felt the same catharsis. It wouldn’t have been earned.

Hell, I’m not even sure the cops were “bad” at all, really. There was one guy that was a pretty big prick, and Don Johnson was too, but even he gave the protagonist a couple of chances to get out of there. They were a poor police force in a poor, dying, small southern town forced into having to self-fund, so they turned to taking advantage of civil asset forfeiture to keep their jobs.

And that’s what the writer/director really wanted to shine a light on. Apparently that’s a pretty real thing that goes on a lot and nobody really talks about it. But he was making a movie more about that set in a revenge movie plot than a revenge movie using the asset forfeiture to incite the plot.

Was kinda boring. And my god the dialogue volume was woeful. Everything was whispered.

Just finally watched this. It’s a libertarian’s wet dream.

I was thinking it might go a bit in the racism area but it was just straight up a magnum opus on Civil Asset Forfeiture.

It was fine. Above average Netflix fare.

That's how I described it to my wife after I finished watching it last night.
