The music was good, but it wasn't "Star Trek music" if that makes sense... it didn't sound like a Trek movie to me. Those of you who are oldschool fans should get what I'm saying

Wasn't the Alexander Courage/John Williams stuff that we're use to.

A much more concise, better way to say what I was trying to say.

I understand. I found the music fitting though which is all I ask from a movie. When my interest would begin to wane, the music would put me right back into the movie.

just got back from seeing it, and I wondered this too. a ship full of that shite might've sucked the whole solar system in, I'd have hit max warp as soon as I got everybody beamed on board

Another thing that got me was the whole supernova threatening to take out the whole galaxy?

WTF?

I would be interested to know what a non-Trek fan thinks of it.

I lot of the charm is seeing the new guys do mannerisms of the old cast.

Just got back, thought it was awesome. I like how they take on the alternate time line so that the movie producers can have new adventures and future movies. It was pretty intense on the action scenes.

I liked it, but never see these plot holes at the time. I take it for what it worth, entertainment.

Also, Harold (and Kumar for that matter) should not be allowed to be in any movie with a semi-serious tone.

Looking like only $70,000,000 weekend or $77,000.000 counting Thursday. That is way better than any Trek to date. The largest Trek opening in the past was $30,000,000 and only one Trek has ever crossed 100,000,000 which was Trek 4.

So it seems they definitely pulled in some new blood, but just a little less than I was hoping for.

Paramount said they would be thrilled with $50,000,000 but I am not sure that is true since the movie cost $130 to 165,000,000 to make.

Will be interesting to see if word of mouth keeps next week afloat or if there is a huge droop off once the Trekkers disappear.

The numbers are in.... $76,500,000 counting the Thursday screenings. Not bad, but also not great. We need to see how it holds up next weekend.

Typically, Trek has not fared well outside the US.

Just saw it last night. I actually liked it and I have prolly never watched a full episode of Star Trek (growing up my mother watched this late at night)or seen any other Star Trek movie. Used to have no interest watching Trek movies either, but I would def watch any sequels that come from this movie. Might even rent some of the other Trek movies to check em out.

I just left from seeing it and I thought it was good. I liked it and I thought the casting was good. It was a bit "advantageous" how they met up and all came to be but you have to make, understood viewing jumps, so to speak, in order for the movie to move forward quickly.

I really liked it and I thought Abrams did a good job of setting up any possible future movies with this cast.

I pray this is the end of time travel. I do get sick of it and it is too easy to pick to death.

He seems fascinated by it with Lost and now Trek. Hopefully we can get a "time free" Trek from now on.

I understand that part of the reason he did it was to silence any future Trek Canon nerds. Now he cam do anything he wants and simply explain that this is a new timeline and anything goes.

On the "coincidence"...

Nero wanted Spock to live to witness the destruction, to ensure that he lived that long it would make sense to put him on the most habitable spot on that ice planet.

The Federation wanted an outpost there, it would make sense to put it on the most habitable spot on that ice planet.

Spock wanted Kirk off of his ship. The ice planet was the nearest stop. It would make sense to put him on the most habitable spot on that ice planet.

Biggest coincidence is Scotty being there. The beasts chasing Kirk to Spock? Possibly Spock had to outrun the same beasts and sliding down into that cave was the most obvious/common route to escape?

Just saw this.

My wife and son enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I found the movie trying to be all things and exceeding at none. Further, the story is pretty pedestrian, rendering the action sequences boring.

I think I would have enjoyed a Ben-Gay version of Star Trek with the original cast over this new batch of non-descripts.

Too many of them are dead. TOS is dead for those actors, but I wouldn't have minded a Defiant based movie.

My take on Scotty was he wasnt Scotty until Spock told him the formula. Once he did this all bets were off. IMO Scotty could have been just any joe blow and because Spock told him the answer he got credit for it. Just like anyone else who would have been there at the outpost.

Just my thoughts.

I am not a Star Trek fan, only seen bits and pieces of the previous movies and the series.

I liked this movie, good action, fairly good plot and acting. A bit cheesy at times but I'm fine with that.

I also liked the green girl.
