Pretty solid franchise overall. Alien 3 is the only bad one.

It’s all personal preference, of course. I just don’t think the newer ones follow the continuity of the originals.
Plus, I’m not a fan of the overexplaining for the origins of the xenomorph. Or the engineers. I think some parts of the story are best when there’s a real mystery.

I actually didn't mind Alien 3, but it's a very steep drop from the first two regardless. It at the very least closes the original story arc imo.
Everything after that has been awful or unnecessary or contradictory.
Stop after Aliens, or Alien 3 if you want "closure"

I thought prometheus was at least worth a watch. I understand some people dislike it for trying to explain the origins or whatever but it did have some good parts

3 is actually not bad and would have been a decent final movie of a good trilogy.
The modern prequels or whatever they claim to be are just awful.

OP, don't listen to any of these idiots. Alien 3 is the second best of the franchise.
Alien is awesome.
Aliens is great, but a different kind of great than 1.
Alien 3 is awesome (though pretty bleak/dark).
Alien Resurrection is kinda fun, but a fairly bad movie.
AVP is not great but for some reason I liked it a lot (minus the Mary Jane shite).
AVP:R is bad and one of the darkest movies ever made (like light-wise, you literally can't see shite)
Prometheus is good (but a lot of people here hate it).
Covenant is not very good.
I haven't seen Romulus.

Agree. Reminds a little of Terminator and Terminator 2 but those were really the same type just on a much higher level in 2.
