I tried watching him a few times and never found him funny. It wasn't even his anti Trump stuff....he just wasn't funny to me.

I liked both the Daily Show and Colbert Report, even as a heartless youngster. I tuned in nightly for Colbert on the Late Show just hoping it would get better, funnier. It never was though- he just got so goddman bitter like every personality not named Bill Maher or Jon Stewart. They don't even know how to be funny at this point

I know he's a stage monkey and just does as he's told but he could've seen the end result a mile off in trying to copy batshite crazy Olbermann.

Perhaps the most punchable face currently on television.

I used to love him on the Colbert Report. He was smart, funny, and able to laugh at anything including himself.

It was just saddening to see that guy just lose all of that. He made bank on the way down though. No one should miss that part of the story

Nothing like getting stoned and watching an old Scotsman effortlessly charm every Hollywood starlet that sat in that chair. I want his tell all memoir.

so weird to think he went from one of the funniest and most well-liked people on television to STRAIGHT UP frick THAT GUY.

When he was doing the character he was actually very personable and had lots of Republican politicians on his show and did a good job of skewering the ridiculous world of politics in general. He was clearly doing an impersonation of a right wing blowhard pundit, but it felt good natured.

Since he went to Late Night he just became a smarmy hateful prick.

He was never funny once he stopped his conservative shtick. Trump completely broke him. Still, strange to see he got cancelled.

as a mostly "conservative" i enjoyed him and could laugh at the arrows coming my way. once that went away he just became a bitter angry man that i never laughed at.

Jon Stewart is extremely bitter. as mentioned above, even as a conservative in the 00s i could laugh, but he's just a bitter old man just like Colbert at this point.

It would have been a great story of two guys who were a screwed by Jay Leno.

No one got screwed by Leno, if Conan had better ratings NBC wouldn't have fired him. Leno had nothing to do with TBS so why'd they fire Conan....same reason...needed better ratings As for Colbert the fact his show will continue until May 2026 makes no sense.

He was cooked when his own NYC audience laughed at him for calling Kaitlan Collins and CNN objective.

Why is it gonna take until May of next year to get rid of this mess ?

Paramount is about to be sold to Skydance. I'm guessing this is the new boss' decision and he will be gone when the deal is finalized.

He was great on Daily Show when he was a side character with a shtick. Now he’s just another unhinged leftist interjecting his TDS into everything.

I was a devoted Daily Show fan for years, going back to Kilborn’s run. I quit it when Stewart left and now I can’t stand it. It’s just all so nutty.

I miss the 80s and 90s late shows that were not so fixated on politics. I loved Letterman in the 90s especially.

It probably would have still ended this way just maybe a slower death, Conan saw the writing on the wall for this format years ago

Podcasts are where people go to promote their shite now and you get better interviews than some light banter and a clip of the movie.

Still…frick Colbert

Yeah I watched Stewart through the W and Obama years. With Trump, the TDS was unbearable. All those people are broken. It’s incredible to see.

My know viewership was trash but can’t believe they admitted defeat and just didn’t let him “retire”.
Also, I hope he burns in hell since he sold his soul years ago.

Meh Stewart is liberal and yes dislikes Trump but he’s not a total homer and is capable of blasting his own party. Not many on either side you can say that about these days…just go look on the poliboard and the people that insist every Trump frick up is a genius 4D chess move.

This isn’t about format changes. This is Paramount bowing to gain favor with Trump. I foresee a host change before the end of the show because Colbert won’t go out quietly.
