Imagine fans chatting up an AI actress…
There are broken people out in the world. There’s nothing that could go wrong from this, right?

Lol then welcome AI actors designed by and modeled after Hollywood weirdos
I'm probably giving people too much credit, but I'm hoping most won't put as much stock in the opinions of AI people.

How is this any different than really good animation?
Posted on 9/28/25 at 9:42 pm to RLDSC FAN
It’s coming whether we like it or not. Brace yourselves. Soon we’ll be able to create whatever we want and make it do whatever we want on a screen.
“Grok. I want to see Superman fight the Hulk. Make it a metropolis setting. Make it Henry Cavill Superman and Eric Bana Hulk. Make the visuals look like Zach Snyder directed it, but the dialogue written like the Russo bros. Go.”
The question is just when. Will we be alive to see it?

A human is not animating it.

Hundreds of mentally ill, narcissistic, millionaire drug addicts are about to become obsolete and unemployed? That's a shame.

What talent agencies -- CAA, WMA, UTA and the like representing real actors, directors, craftspeople? Why would any legit agency want to dabble in anything AI that would in theory take commissions out of their pocket? It's a ridiculous premise. Yes, let's sign Tilly! She's a real draw.
And to the caller who said the film industry is dying. It sounds like it died for you unfortunately. I'm guessing you were a regional rebate hire that benefited greatly from tax breaks in your city/state and things were robust for years. The strikes certainly hurt the industry and it's still adjusting, but hardly dying a fast death --- especially on a global level. I'm glad you bounced back and this a common thing in Atlanta, NOLA and even LA to an extent for people to shift out of the business. I saw the greed of the locals rear its ugly head in places like Atlanta -- where inexperienced crew demanded higher journeyman rates, jumped shows on a whim and generally acted like entitled assholes when the work was plenty. They got comfortable being a cog in the rebate system and likely didn't branch out domestically or internationally. Now that the work has shifted, and what you have left is a shocked and bitter workforce blaming the industry.
As long as there are known actors and directors .... the industry will continue to function as the artful medium it has been for over a hundred years. Do you really think if you entered the entire One Battle After Another screenplay in one of these robotic regurgitators --- you would have what PT Anderson crafted? Of course not. And not only because Leo is in it and would never allow his NIL to be utilized. A computer cannot (at least for now) capture the authentic humanity of a traditionally shot film. Perhaps it can create a commercial or clean up some VFX or stunt work. I think the industries would be more lenient on that more technical or commerce driven applications.
I have no illusions that the distant future will shift the medium into something plastic and sad, but as long as there are the Chalamets, Fincher's, Scorsese's, even Sandler's making films .... AI replacements will not be acceptable. I equate it to the NFL ---- do you really think the public would accept AI generated games instead of the real thing?
The worldwide film community is strong. Look at India, Thailand, Korea, China .... robust industries supporting their own content in addition to Hollywood offerings. More movies are filming in London than LA right now. I am visiting my girlfriend working on a film in Saigon right now and we went to something she worked on yesterday on an IMAX screen. It was packed to 80% capacity. And the new PT film was playing there as well.
Like everyone and everything really --- film/tv will be impacted by AI, but the negative energy (outright cheering the demise of people's livelihoods) and hyperbole on this board at least is not really inline with the reality of the technology. It also underestimates what level of artistic touch and humanity it takes to create a film or tv show. Or a book, a painting or 65 yard pass for that matter.

Don't expect much change simply because it'll be AI actors instead of real ones
Once this happens, they will create a pronoun for AI actors and form a union for them.

Can't believe Trumps tariffs isn't the dumbest movie news of the day. Wow, this is retarded.

But honestly, people are doing that shite on YouTube right now lol. It’s a very low form of it, but it’s gonna evolve.

And why would you sell it when everybody can create themselves?

They’ll sue the maker of the product/app that is responsible for the infringing uses.
Posted on 9/29/25 at 4:53 pm to Decatur
It’s gonna be major companies producing these programs. You can have AI write you a fanfiction story right now involving Superman and the Hulk. As long as you don’t sell it, it’s fine. You can have AI make a picture for you. You could be the only one in the world that ever sees it. That’s happening right now. Right now, people are creating superhero concepts with actors from different eras. And showing it on YouTube. And getting money for it.
If you had the ability to make CGI of Superman and the Hulk fighting and never showed it to anybody, you’re not gonna get sued for that. Just because AI can create that for you doesn’t mean those companies are gonna get sued.
Suing the companies that make the AI program would be like suing the pencil company that I use to write my fanfiction story lol

That’s still copyright infringement of the Superman and Hulk IP. The company that makes the program/app is engaged in a commercial enterprise.
