The poster has Red Hulk's hand holding Cap's shield.

Trailer also tried to make him look like a bad guy, but there's no way they're really going to go that route.

That was assuming he was attacking a good guy. He is also suffering from dementia probably, so could easily be manipulated and weaponized.

I said earlier I believe its a legitimate, complicated and sometimes fun discussion on whether Falcon should be called Captain America, and it actually appears to be a major theme of the movie!!!

I just don't agree with arguments like Sam Wilson can't be an awesome superhero because he doesn't have the physical ability of Cap due to not taking a magical serum (that violates the laws of physics, and thermodynamics in the real world). Comics universes are fun, in addition to fantasy cosmic/magical/mutant beings we can create tech (that violates the laws of physics, thermodynamics, and pretty much everything in the real world) to allow people like Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne, Sam Wilson, Frank Castle, Oliver Queen and Clint Barton to hang out in the club.

Now if they show him fist-fighting the Red Hulk and not becoming a dead puddle of jelly, I will cease all MCU viewing. RH at this point is a pure murder machine

I really like Falcon in the old MCU. Mack is is really likable IRL, at least from interviews I have seen. I hope thie writers let his charisma shine through. The character was made an insufferable little bitch in the Falcon and Winter Soldier show. The “do better” speech was all time bad. If they can move away from that, this could be really cool. If it doubles down on that, this is gonna stink. Disney recent story track record has me a little nervous.

As some have said, you can write around his lack of super strength/agility. I do hope he isn’t just a star spangled Iron Man though. We’ve already seen Iron Patriot. At the same time, if he is pulling the same moves as Steve Rogers, that’s gonna feel off. Punching the shield through a concrete wall seems a little beyond Sam’s capabilities. Using tactics and smarts seems the way to go to me.

ETA. So no Winter Soldier in this at all?

Well I don't think there's much chance they're making the experimented-on black guy with super powers a bad guy anyway. It would make more sense if they did though.

Sam can be Falcon. Fine. But he didn’t make his suit (like Tony did) or have exceptional talents (Daredevil, Hawkeye) or insane training (Black Widow -rip). He’s Scott Lang but without a Pym particle powered suit.

The fact that you get that from a 2 minute trailer tells me you just want the movie to be bad.

People want this movie to fail. It would screw up their narrative too much if it was good.

And honestly it doesn't matter how good the movie is. People shite all over Black Panther (moreso when Hollywood tried to push the movie harder because of the backlash) despite it being a really good movie. There is going to be a very vocal minority that will hate this movie, hate Anthony Mackie, hate Falcon, and hate Disney/Marvel regardless.

The "no powers" crowd are.just using a cheap excuse to already hate the movie despite there being hundreds of examples of regular people overcoming great odds to be a hero. And the more they try to troll with it the more I'm convinced they simple hate a black man being the lead.

I think this is undeniably true for some.

Maybe for a very small group, but it gets pretty ridiculous when any criticism/concern is automatically perceived as racism. Let Sam be Cap, epitomizing the ideals of the character, and he will be embraced. I think a lot of the doubts come from the direction they took with the character in the show. A world saving Avenger that can’t get a bank loan was a weird way to go. Having the climax be a vapid moralizing monologue to politicians was just baffling. Disney did most of this to themselves. I hope this movie is good. The trailer gave some reasons to be optimistic.

Figured a post like this was coming. If it's a minority movie you can't complain about it.

All I'm saying is I see nothing to be excited about with this character. Marvel hasn't done much to build him up. Falcon and winter soldier had a lot of race baiting in it. I guess that's ok though bc it's about black "troubles".

I want this to succeed. I love superhero movies. I just think Marvel has done huge diservice to this Captain America character.

BTW you are a douche.
Oh and by the way, I've met Anthony Mackie before. I talked to him in New Orleans at a bar not too long after he became the falcon. Really nice guy. Wasn't rude at all. So F off with your race crap.

You're already giving your excuses incase this fails. We're all giving thoughts on how the character can be better.

I never had an issue with him becoming Cap. It was obvious Cap was friends with him and Falcon was a great right hand man.

Disney did this to themselves.

Trailer does give me hope. Esp after hearing all the re-shoots they made. Highly likely they new the previous storyline was crap (probably political).
I think they'll see the numbers for deadpool and FINALLY get back to superhero storytelling rather than this crap they have been doing.

Falcon and Winter Soldier was a garbage TV show, and Marvel has put out more crap content than good content since Endgame. The criticism makes sense. The people pretending otherwise are the ones pushing nonsense.

Black Panther was an ok movie. I wouldn't describe it as "really good." It is world's better than most of the crap they're putting out now, but isn't even in the top 10 of MCU flicks.

If they don't address how a Falcon with no powers can go toe to toe with major villains like Red Hulk, no one is going to buy him as Captain America.

to be fair, it wasn't awful and made $90mm in profit all while Disney released it on streaming at the same time.

i'm normally not all up in arms about a millionaire liberal actress getting screwed but Disney, actually f'd her over IMHO.

It bombed because the fate of her character was already known from a prior movie.

The gender swap of Taskmaster didn't help either. That was clearly a man playing that role until the "big reveal" at the end of the movie. "Don't believe your lying eyes" moment.

I'm elated that they're putting Captain America vs Red Hulk, instead of another movie where it's Iron-Man vs Evil Iron-Man, Thor vs Evil Thor, Hulk vs Evil Hulk and on and on.

I doubt that the majority of this board would accept any storyline that would allow for Falcon to go to toe with Hulk, including a sudden injection of Super-Serum.

But then this is a comic book movie, and non-powered heroes go up against super-ultra-mega powered villains all the time.

No, an injection of super soldier serum is the only thing that would make sense. Without that or some major technology, he shouldn't be anywhere near Red Hulk. I'm betting the old black super soldier guy sacrifices himself. I can't ever remember his name.

I can't imagine putting Falcon on the same level as Green Arrow/Hawkeye or Batman. This Falcon has not been shown to be a master tactician and his speech at the end of Falcon and Winter Soldier shows that his intellect level is low. He also doesn't have the telepathic link to birds that the Falcon in the comics has. He's just a normal dude who has even been shown to get beaten up by Ant-Man. This character does not make sense as an individual who can face world-level threats alone. Just giving him the Captain America shield isn't going to change that. He needs a lot more than that.
