Fear the Walking Dead spoilers ahead.
Fear had a cleansing that pretty much left the core at the ending of last season with that horde so there is precedent. Walking Dead would have milked the cowboys and Indians for seasons.
Wouldn't mind an event that only left Rick, Darryl, Maggie and Carol. I guess Rosita, Michonne would be ok and maybe Carl just to frick with Cosmo.

I have thought it was good up to this year. I am not in love with this season. Seems like the writers have given up on a lot of the things they based the show on. Now they are ignoring basic things

Some say it is nitpicking to point out how awful the gun effects have become, but even a non-gun person says it is so bad as to be a distraction from otherwise good material. From Forbes:

He goes on to point out specific weaknesses, like the .50 cal. bullets pinging off Rick's hood like BBs, and how "zombies are all instantly headshot 99% of the time while humans almost never are."

There were these scenes where they were fighting off walkers or invaders, but their guns had literally no recoil. Or what about in the past few episodes there was a scene where they sniped two guards with massive blood splatter behind them, but no bullet hole in the glass from the exit wound.

Humans are only headshots when they need to be. Like when they took out the snipers on the Savior’s main compound with one shot each but every single bullet they shot at Negan in that very same scene missed.

The gunfighting scenes have been awful. Every part of them.
