isn't the sony deal only supposed to allow marvel to do one more stand alone film with this spiderman? i think they want to go big for the next movie and maybe transition to myles morales.

Holland is contracted for one more film
Posted on 7/2/19 at 10:17 pm to swagsurfin7
That is correct but I doubt it will be his last. I expect at least 2-3 more films before they even consider switching Holland out for Miles Morales or someone else

Really, really liked it. Started slow, but had a lot of great scenes toward the end. Post credit scenes were some of the best. I don't know how the MCU keeps doing it, but Holland seems well suited to pick up where RDJ left off. The acronym for EDITH was classic.

Very meh for a Marvel Studios movie. Extremely meh compared to homecoming.
The Skrull reveal deflated the film even more. So we didn’t watch a Fury film after all. Nice.
Guillenhaal gave a good performance, but his character was well below what we got with The Vulture.
MJ going from super-cool to goofy between films was weird.
Not one of the worst Marvel films, but not top tier like Homecoming.
And damn them for making me check out Aunt May’s arse.

I liked Flash more in this one. He is just a douche and once you accept it, the kid does a good job of it.
So I had a question about him at the end. when he is getting picked up at the airport, he asked where/why his mom didn't come get him. Is there a deeper meaning to this? I feel like this is more than just a throw away line for future movies. That and the fact that now that he knows Spiderman's identity, he may grow to hate him.
When Peter was using EDITH on the bus to spy on his classmates text messages Flash's phone showed him texting both his mom and his dad asking why they hadn't sent him any messages for days. I think they were trying to establish sympathy for him by showing that he's being a douchebag as a coping mechanism for having absent parents.

I don’t think you can go to miles morales when Peter Parker is about 17 or 18 years old. Unless they time jump again the should do everything they can to keep Holland another 8 or 9 years and establish him as an adult.

They are gonna pay him RDJ money to come back for the long haul as long as they can keep his rights for long enough. They need a new face of the franchise and that’s who they want
Seems like it could’ve been more naturally SpiderMan if JJJ “revealed” that Spider-Man was behind the attacks but didn’t reveal the identity. Allowing him to work for him like usual

I absolutely loved it as much as Homecoming if not maybe more. I think they are taking the JJJ character the direction of the Alex Jones type media guy. That's what they did with him in the recent PS4 game and it was great.

I can't imagine Marvel having too much interest in bring Miles Morales into the MCU anytime soon if at all.
Miles is a fun stand alone character, but I can't see how he would fit in currently. Miles would work much better way down the road like another poster said, maybe 10 years plus when Holland and MCU are ready to move on. You can move Holland out, move Morales in, and maybe do something where you have Tobey's Spider-Man come in from a different universe to mentor him like in the comics.

Surprised at some of the comments. The effects in the second half of the movie were amazing and the second half in general was great. Great credit scene too. Probably a top 5 marvel movie for me. I liked the Eurotrip inspiration it took too with some things.

I think it was a great movie overall.
I liked Mysterio but didnt care for the support team aspect of him. To be fair it did make sense.
I laughed way too hard at Night Monkey.

that was such a great idea to use JJJ radio segments to fill the gaps while swinging from place to place. much better than listening to music like in GTA. It continued to build the world and expand the story.

I am not a fan of the new MJ in any sense really. I don't think she is very cute nor an interesting character.

With alternate dimensions, anything is possible.

I must be in the minority here then... I sincerely thought it was the best Solo MCU film
It's up there. The first Spider-Man/Mysterio fight was amazing. Best one-on-one in the MCU, no doubt.

Yep. I loved it. The effects/illusions were amazing.

I’m with you. I think it was the writing more than anything. The first third of the movie was weirdly paced and a bit hokey. Rolled my eyes quite a bit at some of the dialog, and the “class activity” conceit (complete with terrible, unfunny chaperone characters) got old fast.
Overall the second half was much stronger. It seems from the first credits scene that they are setting up Spidey for much more terrestrial threats than anything intergalactic.
