is it that bad?
It took me three sittings to make it through. I fell asleep the first time and got bored the second.

Lost in Translation (super boring)
Million Dollar Baby (Rocky with a girl)
Ray (let's cast a guy who can sing but have him just lip synch Ray's songs)
Goodnight and Good Luck (boring)
Babel (what a mess)
The Queen (let's watch Helen Mirren prance around as one of the most filmed figures in history)
Milk ("I hate what just happened." "Let's go protest." Repeat 8 times)
Slumdog Millionaire (oooh were edgy bc it's all Indian actors)
Up (I've never seen a film get more mileage out of an emotional MacGuffin)
127 Hours (let's watch a film about a guy whose arm gets stuck in a rock)
Midnight in Paris (I don't understand why Hollywood has a bigger hard on for Woody than he does for prepubescent Asian girls)
Beasts of the Southern Wild (what was the point of this film, exactly?)
The Theory of Everything (biopics are rarely as good as the acting performances in them--see Ray)
Spotlight (pot calling the kettle black, Hollywood?)
Moonlight (Christ, how depressing and boring)
The Post (poor man's All the President's Men)

Norbit was nominated for an Oscar. People forget.
Posted on 2/19/18 at 6:57 pm to mizzoubuckeyeiowa
You got some issues.
I thought it was a pretty enjoyable movie. I could see not thinking it was all that great but sounds to me like the lead actor banged your old lady.

I get the idea most people who bash norbit never watched it. Most over-ridiculed movie of all time.
It was Eddie Murphy playing multiple characters including and obese woman.
It was kind of funny. Shouldn’t have won(or been nominated) for any awards; but it’s a better movie than half the comedies that make it into theaters nowadays

I've seen Norbit, and that movie is pure fricking shite on the scale of some of the worst Adam Sandler has ever made. It was pretty much a career ender for Eddie Murphy. You don't make career ending movies and have them be somewhat passable.

Get Out.
Not even close to being an Oscar worthy picture.

If you like being easily manipulated and insulted then that movie is for you.
Seriously though. You seem to have an axe to grind over this one. Did you have impure thoughts when the little girl was dancing or something? Damn. It’s just a quirky comedy.

I thought Get Out was entertaining but I don’t get the Oscar buzz. It’s not that great.

Yeah, a movie that was the highest ranking film by film critics this year is clearly not worthy of being an Oscar worthy picture unlike those great masterpieces "The Post" and "Darkest Hour".

Moonlight - God I really tried but that shite was awful all around. Basically just won bc of the "risque" beach scene
Avatar was also bad as a story despite all of its breakthroughs.

Film critics can be full of shite, have to like snob movies else they are just guys paid to watch movies.
I thought everything about shape of water was gross.
A few years ago I thought the king's speech was boring.

Moonlight is a good movie. Arrival ran circles around it. (Har har)

I had no axe to grind, I just listed a movie.
I have an axe to grind because some moron who loves this drivel called out my expose of this movie and acted like anyone who didn't love this drivel was an idiot. Disagree, then say I disagree...but acting like this movie is some Citizen Kane or Godfather and if you don't love it you are a blithering idiot is a useless critique and serves no purpose.
You can disagree and I would have no axe to grind but this nonsense...Oh my god, everyone who doesn't share my view is an idiot is intolerable. He could have just said, I disagree.
But apparently he likes parodies. The movie is the parody of Indies. It takes Juno level smugness to another level.
It's a fake manipulative overly "look at me, I'm an Indie" movie vote for me at Oscar time.
It checks all the boxes. It's the Crash of Indies. It's not organic at all...it's like it was planned out for an Oscar nod. And they went through a checklist that hit the buttons of voters. It's the most unorganize, unoriginal Indie - it's not even an Indie...it a faux Indie, dressed up as an Indie but there's nothing intendpendant about it because it was all planned.
You like a fake. It's a fraud of a movie. And yes, it bothers me when people think it's great or original or unique like the idiots who liked Crash.
Little Miss Manipulative = Crash

The Post and Get Out for 2018. Not bad movies, just not Oscar movies IMO

Still think Shakespeare in Love was a terrible movie and winning best picture over Saving Private Ryan was criminal. Just thinking about Tom Hanks telling Damon “Earn this” with his dying breath still has me on the verge of tears.
But my answer is Crash. That movie was awful.
Birdman was incredibly boring, but I get why it was nominated. It’s the In The Line Of Fire for actors. It’s not a movie I ever care to see again.
Whoever said Little Miss Sunshine should be banned from posting anything on this board forever. I mean, wow.
