Do you actually care about the lyrics in a song?

If a song sounds good I typically don't care about the specific wording being used.

Lyrics are the most important part for me.

I care about the Lyrics of a song just as much as the melody. Maybe more!

You should change your name to FAT MORON.

if that’s the case you’ll love phish and goose

I'm fine with it, the lyrics, no lyrics,
Just don't sing.
Just don't sing.

Music appeals to you viscerally, lyrics appeal to you intellectually
There are plenty of people who care only about the music. I've never met anyone who cared only about the lyrics. Might as well just read a book of poetry -- and the vast majority of rock lyrics, printed out on the page, are doggerel at best.

Vocals and lyrics seems to be the most underappreciated in the music industry.

Depends on the genre
If it's something like rap music the lyrics are a focal point
I guess to some extent I care about the lyrics having some meaning but if the melody and music is pleasing I can deal with sub par lyrics

Sometimes. The music has to grab me first.

And I would add that, IMHO, a truly great song has both music and lyrics that will move you emotionally in a very strong way.

Depends on the music
Often no, especially for metal.

Absolutely. I know the lyrics to music from 1958 and on (and I was born in the very early 80's).

I must admit, I’m a chord/harmony fan first. If the music and singing is compelling, the lyrics aren’t as important.
That’s not to say that I don’t appreciate good lyrics.
They got a name for the winners in the world. I want a name when I lose. They call Alabama the crimson tide. Call me Deacon Blues.
Is there gas in the car? Yes, there’s gas in the car.

What are lyric's for $200 please.
Lyrics were always forefront with mom. She could sing.
Dad wanted a rhythmic groove picked tastefully.
And then Dylan showed me metered words and chanced meaning.
(instrumentals can do both)

this x100. take shoegaze, it ain't really about the lyrics. or industrial metal. but there's a time and place for it, I think.
