What is the question in your post? So vague. He was one of the last people to make decent music. ?????

I actually like Strait’s songs more.

Just stands there…on stage.
Saw him at Houston Rodeo in 1990s.
To be fair, I’m not a country music fan. Left with “corpse” impression of his stage presence.

That’s why they call him the Fireman, cause that’s his name!

Word is he wanted to give songwriters a voice and a chance to make a good living. He probably could have been a great songwriter but chose to help the songwriter profession by singing their songs.

Dudes singing is great but his acting was not so great. lol

He did write some of his own songs in the beginning; they were just deemed to not be strong candidates for release. His most recent albums all have songs that he has cowritten with his son.
Honestly his use of covers is what made him as popular as he is. He came on the scene well before most of the neotraditionists like Clint Black and Alan Jackson. George was releasing Texas dance hall music when the rest of Nashville was still mired in an 80s pop version of the Nashville Sound. If Nashville hasn't been so anti band (Alabama at the time was a massive exception to the rule) I think Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel would have followed George into at least minor stardom and not been relegated to a regional favorite.

If you believe this then I've got some ocean front property in Arizona with your name on it.

The amount of disrespect for the King of Country is unbelievable in here.

He is worthy of all the accolades that he gets, it is people like Garth Brooks, who, in my opinion are terrible musicians, terrible! Why they get attention I do not know

IDK, George Strait's voice plays a prominent part in the soundtrack of my youth. He's one of my all time favorites, for sure. But "Remember When" is one of the sweetest songs ever, so Alan Jackson gets a nod, too.

Hell, Barry Manilow didn't even write "I write the songs."

He is milk toast boring. The women liked him and the men just chased the women. It was sterile Nashville pop country. He had the looks and mass appeal voice but he was no Jerry Jeff Walker or Dwight Yoakam.
