Released on this day in 1987
It was the second single from R.E.M.’s fifth album Document.
The Video

The late 80’s was a great time for music as a lot of you know.

This was one of those songs of my life that I can actually remember where I was and what I was doing while listening to this song.

Can you name a song from a particular moment in your life and when you hear it brings you back.

I had a friend in college who immediately memorized the entire lyrics.

Document start to finish is R.E.M.'s best album & finest hour. Fight me.

It was an OK album. It was their transition to pop drivel and End of the World foretold their demise. Stipe knew it and so wrote a song saying "we are selling out and I feel fine".

Hot Blooded by Foreigner always brings back the memory of my Dad screaming at my sister "Turn that fricking shite off!" as we were getting ready for school

Good point. Forgot bout that one. I don’t think I did make it passed that one. And the video made it so much worse

However I’ve always like “Man In The Moon”

Finish typing this turn my car on and “Everybody Hurts” is playing on Lithium. Bizarre

Anything from "Frampton Comes Alive" is summer spent on the river swimming with my pals and driving in the car with my girlfriend.

For me it was a terrible time. The beginning of the end of my favorite band. The OP song is the only one I will ever listen to again. Just a mediocre at best offering from them.

I could never tolerate REM. Have a friend who loved them since he got some bootleg tape from the 40 watt club way back when. So, I guess they remind me of him on the off chance they're being played and I can't change the channel.

Snakepit by The Cure, which is the second best song on the album behind The Kiss, reminds me of finding a secluded little road in City Park to get friendly with my first girlfriend early in the relationship.
