I thought the whole idea was shite and RW is a complete douchebag. I also have no interest in this fantastic album being ruined by 21st century politics.

Per Nick Mason:

"annoyingly, it's absolutely brilliant"

frick me.

I liked that better than I thought I would.
A lot of Beatles sound to it, to me.

It sounds about depressing as I imagined.

It also sounds like it’s being written around Waters’ limited vocal range (old age)

He's got a good excuse for sounding like that. He's old. So am I.
He can't just quit tryin. Hope you won't either.

No, but if I couldn’t sing I would stop singing.

I have extreme bias against Roger Waters. Won’t lie.

I really do too, and to tell the truth myself, I didn't want to like how that sounded, but there were a couple of little parts that got me.

To me, if he's trying to prove he didn't need Gilmour/Wright, it proves the opposite point. It's striking how much their contributions are missed.

I usually think and listen from a songwriter's perspective, as opposed to thinking from a production/guitar player frame of mind, and the songs hold up, even stripped down.
I wish I could make own stuff sound that good.

Based on that short clip it sounds like exactly what I expected it to: a Pink Floyd song rewritten and re-recorded by only 25% of Pink Floyd.

Hate the man all you want, but he was the creative force behind Pink Floyd. Would much rather catch Roger in concert than the other three pretending to be Pink Floyd.

Conceptually, yes. But none of that was possible without Gilmour and Wright. It’s not like RW was writing Gilmour’s guitar solos or Wrights keyboard parts. The Final Cut was 100% Waters and it was hot garbage. Also, Floyd’s music after 1985 was fantastic. Waters’ compositions after 1985 are a non-story

I saw RW live and the entire sound was very empty and lacked energy.

I'm not a fan of any of Floyd's stuff after Waters. I didn't like the Final Cut either. Momentary Lapse and Division Bell are too 80's synth, and Gilmour's songwriting is boring compared to Roger.

I thoroughly enjoyed his 2017 release, "Is This the Life We Really Want?"

I saw him on the Us and Them tour in 2017 and had a great time. The production was one of the best I'd ever seen, and he sounded good. Maybe I caught him on a good night? I've heard so-so things about the most recent tour, but I know that this board had very good reviews of his The Wall tours.

reading the comments, this sums up my exact thoughts ...

"This man, once admired, chooses to destroy a masterpiece because he lacks the talent to create a new one. People will buy it out of curiosity and to add to their collection. Because they Love what Pink Floyd was and what stands the time. I wish Roger would create something worth buying and stop destroying the past. Preserve what's left of your legacy that you have not alienated with political rhetoric. We care that you care, but please do not mix the two. Leave DSOTM alone. It was perfect. It is perfect. Enough said, the rant is over, thought I'd something more to say "......

I'll listen to entirety of Waters' re-edited, re-altered, re-mixed version of "Roger Does DSOTM Solo". However, I won't spend a dime supporting this disgruntled Octogenarian. Waters still thinks HE IS Pink Floyd, when in reality the musical brilliance of this band is 4 individuals performing as one, NOT vice versa.

I saw Roger twice on The Wall tour. Both shows were absolutely fantastic.

Just awful.

(ETA: For the record, I dug the "lockdown" version of Mother that RW did on Youtube - he has a really talented band, but his voice, which was never all that great as he was more of a vocal stylist than singer, anyway, is just fricking shot to hell.)
