The Final Cut was 100% Waters and it was hot garbage.
It wasn't their best album, but "hot garbage" is useless hyperbole.

Also, Floyd’s music after 1985 was fantastic
Bruh, I found myself singing High Hopes today, but post-Waters PF is basically muzack. The Final Cut is way more interesting musically and thematically.

Wait, if he lacks the talent to create a new masterpiece, that means that DSOTM is not a masterpiece at all. Doubletalk. Doubletalk.

True.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. Momentary Lapse of Reason is a real accomplishment because they did it without Waters. No, it doesn't compare to the run of the Big 4, but frankly, I think it is at least as good as Animals and probably better than The Final Cut (which I admit, I like a lot).
Division Bell and The Endless River are well done and interesting in their own way. The Endless River probably does qualify as extremely high quality Muzack, but that is about the end of my agreement with you on this point.

There is no question that there is a lot for me to like on this album. I tend to listen to it as I do most Floyd albums, as a complete suite of songs. As far as individual songs, The Gunner's Dream, Not Now John and Two Suns in the Sunset are way up there for me.
Certainly, I enjoy The Final Cut more than any individual album by either Waters or Gilmour, and that says a lot, because I'm usually #TeamGuilmour.

Agree but Final Cut > Post Waters Albums.

Bruh, Division Bell is the shite.

My sentiments exactly.

What it's really like is: If it was demo recordings for all of the songs, and then a fantastic band took all of those songs and brought out the full potential on the original DSOTM album, but he was part of that band, and that's where you screw up as a real songwriter.
The best thing for me, is when other people do their interpretation of one my songs. I never wanted to be a star, Roger Waters put himself into that though.

Damn. Listening to that is depressing. Waters sorely missing the contributions of the other 3 there. He didn't need to record that.

If anyone wants to doubt Gilmour and Wrights writing contributions, check out The isolated keyboard and guitar tracks from Comfortably Numb

I bought The Final Cut the day it came out and have listened to it countless times, but I would say I now enjoy Gilmour's first album over it and would reach for it 9/10 times over TFC.

I think most agree that Pink Floyd was greater than the sum of its parts. All were very talented musicians.

I like the way you put that, very wise.

I won't spend a dime supporting this disgruntled Octogenarian. Waters still thinks HE IS Pink Floyd, when in reality the musical brilliance of this band is 4 individuals performing as one, NOT vice versa.
Me too. Rog wrote great lyrics, but the magic was in Dave,Richard,Nick and a marginal bassist.

Conceptually, yes. But none of that was possible without Gilmour and Wright. It’s not like RW was writing Gilmour’s guitar solos or Wrights keyboard parts. The Final Cut was 100% Waters and it was hot garbage. Also, Floyd’s music after 1985 was fantastic. Waters’ compositions after 1985 are a non-story
I don't enjoy writing this. Roger Waters is a sanctimonious prick and I he's dead wrong about the nature and necessity of armed violence. Mason and Gilmour seem like better human beings. But they are not Roger, and they are arguably not Pink Floyd.

Everything seems to have gone silent on this project. Was supposed to be released in the spring. I wonder what’s going on?
Posted on 6/27/23 at 2:46 pm to TCO
Waters probably got pissed at the recording sound engineer and decided to scrap the project

None of them are "Pink Floyd".
The four of them together are, and any other compilation of musicians never will be "Pink Floyd". Kind of like trying to make "Led Zeppelin" after Bonham died. There will never be "Rush" again, now that Neil Peart is gone. ZZ Top, same story without Dusty. On and on...
Exception for the Syd Barrett era before they were really well known. But a wildly different style.

What?? They were officially Pink Floyd after Waters left (or kicked out) until they retired. Guy Pratt replacing Roger Waters on bass actually made the band better (he’s a way, way better bassist).
Yes, I get all the humbug about Water’s writing. Nothing Waters wrote after the Wall received critical acclaim. So I think Pink Floyd did quite well in the post-Waters era. I quite enjoy Lapse of Reason and Division Bell.
