I realize this is Fleetwood Mac, but the song is from the writers of Seven League Boots(Southern Cross)

The Clique - "Superman"
They were mostly from Beaumont but at least one member was from Laffy
Have you ever heard of this 70s Laffyette band, Zuider Zee? They moved to Memphis because their manager heard about Big Star (who were mostly a studio band so there was no live power pop scene there for them to fit into)... they did get a record contract later but the label made them sound like Firefall, just in time for that to go out of vogue... the singer, Richard Orange, later wrote "Hole In My Heart (That Goes All The Way To China)" for Cindy Lauper. One of them found the tapes of the record they made that nobody wanted to put out a few years ago and had it mixed and found a label to put it out... great stuff...

I would say "The Kids are Alright" fits in the power pop vein
prototypical! "I Can't Explain," "Pictures of Lily," and "I Can See For Miles," too... among a lot of others!

Huey Lewis
I give up
The first Huey Lewis & The News record was quasi-new wave/power pop (with a touch of the J Geils Band stuff that flirted with that, too)... and a little bit of the second one, maybe...
but "Power of Love" is not power pop... or ant of his other big hits
trivia: Huey's previous band - Clover, a country rock band a la The Eagles who were a bit too late for that here so they moved to England - backed up Elvis Costello on his debut record, "My Aim is True," sans Huey. That band's guitarist, John McFee, joined The Doobie Brothers shortly after that...

quote:
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous for its use of banjo. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels.

If I remember correctly, Huey is credited on that album as "Huwey"

Great song Alx!
Are you familiar with Matt Williamson of Pop Goes The 60's? This showed up in my YouTube queue and afterward I went down a Left Banke rabbit hole of "Walk Away Renee" covers.

I posted "She May Call You Up Tonight" earlier in the thread. I guess people skip over my posts.

I have no argument with that list.
