LeBoo started out high energy, scalping on D. Then he faded into the darkness and started arguing with fans.

this last month of the season is setting up to potentially be really enjoyable if the team can get on a little roll and the lakers simultaneously shite the bed

Next time LeBron turns his ankle or tweeks "something"...I fully expect it to be MUCH more serious than originally thought...and he has to miss several, several games due to this unfortunate injury. JMO

The problem in getting the Lakers' pick is that we need help.
- Knicks are 1-9 in their last 10 games and still hoping that Derrick Rose will be able to return and give them a shot at the play-in, but this seems unlikely.
- Wizards are tied with the Lakers now, but they seem committed to the tank.
- Blazers are tanking
- Kings are six games back of the Lakers and still not very good.
That leaves the Spurs, who are 5-5 in their last 10 games and playing decent basketball. They are 3.5 games back of the Lakers, but they will likely lose in Memphis tonight.
The huge thing in our favor is that the Lakers have the toughest remaining schedule in the league. It's 2nd-toughest by opponent record, with two games remaining against us, the Nuggets, Mavs, Raptors, Warriors, and Suns; and one game remaining against the 76ers, Spurs, Cavs, Clippers, Wolves, and Jazz.
I don't think that they will be favored in any of those 18 games. I think they will be favored in their two games against the Wizards and their games against the Rockets and Thunder (four in all).
Of those remaining 22 games, though, only 8 are at home. As you might expect for an old team, the Lakers are 18-15 at home and only 9-18 on the road this season. Road games mean less time in the hot and cold tubs -- older joints don't do as well and tighten up.
The other good news is that Portland has the easiest remaining schedule, and Washington is 4th-easiest, so maybe one of those teams ends up helping us after all.

Complicated situation for sure but first things first...LeBron MUST just pack it in for the rest of the season for the Lakers to lose enough for us to get their pick. Good news is, he can pack it in while playing or while sitting out with some "injury". Lakers don't care if we get their pick or Memphis does...so that has nothing to do with their performance from here on.
Only reason they will decide to play hard is IF LeBron wants to sneak into the 10-team play-in. I'm not sure LeBron wants any part of that play-in, with this truly horrible team. Assuming LJ folds his tent, I think Lakers end up all the way down to 34-48 or so. At that point, they could qualify for anywhere from the 9th pick to the 11th pick, and that's BEFORE even considering what those crazy ping pong balls say about the situation. Could get interesting, depending of course, on LeBron.

I do think Lebron is going to shut it down for the season soon though, and if that happens, it's over.

If the Spurs could somehow manage to pull the upset tonight in Memphis, I'd be genuinely confident about getting the pick.
Also tonight, keep an eye on the Kings game in OKC, which is obviously a must-win for them to have any hope at all.

Overthinking things, as I usually do, the fact I think we will finish strong & easily make the play-in...I could see us "resting" some key players down the stretch...maybe those 2 games vs the Spurs will provide that opportunity. (Wish we STILL played the Wizards a coupla times...but alas)

LeBron sat out the remainder of 2019 about a few games or so after they were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, and they still had a decent amount of games left to play. I would like to think a similar scenario could play out again this year if things head in that direction.

I don't know about pulling for the Spurs, they are vying for that 10th. spot and have had our number. I'm pulling for Memphis and frick the pick. We have enough games left with the Lakers, Spurs, and Kings to control getting a home play-in game ... just take care of business. Lakers are coming apart at the seams and I believe are stuck due to age and with no interest in buckling down and stopping teams from scoring. Lakers dropping to 11th or 12th seed may be a natural occurrence.

The final standing are based off the regular season record, right? Hypothetically, if the Lakers were 11th and we were 10th, but beat them in the play in they would stay 11 in the draft order, right?

they have a cushion.
at least one other team besides the pels needs to pass them. SAS is the only competent team that can
if they don’t and lose right along with the lakers we arent getting the pick

I want to make that play in but yea, we really need to be rooting for the Spurs, the Kings, and even the Blazers. Even if we make the play in, we need those teams winning to give as many teams as possible a shot at passing up the Lakers.

Those ping pong balls have a mind of their own...so, I'll only feel good if Lakers end up with 9th pick before the ping pong balls get involved.
If it's 9th before balls "speak", we'll have 50.7% chance to end up with 9th pick, 25.9% chance to end up with 10th pick, 20.2% chance to luck up & get one of top 4 picks...& only a 3.1% chance to crap out where Lakers end up with 11th pick or higher, which would go to Memphis.
If it's 10th before balls "speak", we'll have 65.9% chance to end up with 10th pick, 13.9% chance to luck up & get one of top 4 picks...and a 20.2% chance to crap out where Lakers end up with 11th pick or higher, which would go to Memphis. LINK

One slightly odd scenario…….
If the season ended exactly as it is today, Lakers have 11th worst odds and we have tenth. However, if we beat the Lakers in the play in and then win the next play in to get to the actual playoffs, our draft placing would then be based on how we finish playoffs. The Lakers would then bump down to the 10th worst odds via us passing them so to speak.

I absolutely cannot agree with that. This pick is very valuable.
Obviously, the most fun situation would be for Washington to fail at tanking and end up with a better record than the Lakers, and for us to end up as the #9 seed and have the Lakers at #10, so that we can beat them at home in a play-in game to eliminate them from the postseason while also claiming the pick.
But since that seems rather fanciful, I would rather have the Spurs ahead of the Lakers and have the pick in hand before any of the postseason.

Gotcha, I was referring to a Laker drop in standings that would equate to a lower pick. Question, w/o looking too far ahead, who would I rather face in a play-in (preferably at home) the Spurs or the Lakers? For some weird reason, we do not play or match up well with the Spurs/Pop. Murray et. al. Pick n Roll us to submission every time it seems. I want as much distance between us and them for the 10th. seed. Ideally, we can somehow jump to the 8th. and the Clips drop to the 9th. while the Lakers fade below both the Spurs and Kings.... wishful thinking.
