Desmond Bane looks like he belonds as a fricking DE playing SG.

Doesn't look like the knicks are gonna help us today, but they've got the Magic tomorrow. They're shutting down Randle which may be a boost since he's obviously done there.

Yeah, they got their butts kicked by the Cavs today. But if they win tomorrow against the Magic, then I think that they are almost guaranteed to finish above the Lakers.
Even if the Lakers are eliminated though, I'll still root for the Knicks to win every remaining game, because we also want them to finish with a better record than us, so that we'll have a few more ping-pong balls for our own pick (obviously, that's if we don't reach the playoffs).

Lakers pick at 8 has a 26% chance at top 4 and a 6% chance at 1st overall
Posted on 4/3/22 at 12:25 pm to cgrand
6% is the same we had when we won in 2019 fwiw

I’m trying to remember if the hornets/Pelicans have ever been in the position of having made the playoffs (kinda this year) AND watching for lottery balls with another teams pick
I’m not coming up with anything

pels magic number for the play in is one.
win one more game (or another lakers loss) and they are in
spurs now 2.5 up on lakers with the tiebreaker and can make it 3.5 with a win tonite. The fact that it’s unlikely that NYK, WAS or NOP will push SAS’s lottery pick any worse means that they “should” be playing to win, despite Murray being out

Spurs should win but I'm not assuming anything
Murray out is bad

I'll say this: it's been fun just having everyone rooting for us to win. The fact that winning games late in the season is helping us get a higher pick is so much better than the debates we often have on this board about whether or not we should tank and lose games on purpose.
This board has been less quarrelsome as of late, as we all enjoy winning.

It's a special time right now

It’s really not. They beat them a couple of days ago by 19 without Murray. They’re fine.

We struggled to beat Portland a few days ago

Knicks up 10 at the half against the Magic. A win today puts them up 4 games on the Lakers with 4 games to play.

Those dumbasses are still wanting the Pels to tank...

Knicks up 10 on Magic at half. They win and they are guaranteed at least a tie with the Lakers. Pels win tonight and they guarantee the Lakers would finish no worse than a tie for 10th worst record. That is assuming Lakers win out, Knicks, Wizards and Spurs lose out (which isn't happening)
It's basically over. Pels and Knicks will be ahead of Lakers. It's really up to Spurs and Wizards to see if we can keep Lakers at 8 and they could sew that up by really winning one more game

Lakers are 31-47, with @Phoenix, @ Golden State, vs Oklahoma City, @Denver left. They are on a 6 game losing streak, and are 4-16 in their last 20 games. They realistically only can beat Oklahoma City, so they should finish 32-50.
If us, the Knicks or the Wizards lost all of our remaining games, we would finish 34-48, ahead of the Lakers. Basically, the only chance we have of not getting their pick is running the table (unlikely), winning 3 out of four and losing multiple coin flips for draft slotting, or beating out the Spurs for the 10th spot, beating us, then beating the loser of the Timberwolves/Clippers game.
The Lakers have not had a winning streak of any kind since Dec 31 - Jan 7, when they won 4 in a row (all at home).

Another fun fact. There are 4 teams in the NBA that are currently on 5 games or greater losing streaks. The Magic and the Lakers are on 6 game losing streaks, and the Pacers and Blazers are on 7 game losing streaks. Only one team, the Lakers, is actively trying to win those games.
