And he still played about the same amount of games as Zion and BI combined.

CJ is a tough SOB. y'all quick to bash him but the guy excludes everything we wish our superstar player possesses.

Shel the argument has been his inability to defer understanding he has these already obvious injuries (at least the UCL)

We hate our players when they don't play because they don't feel like themselves, and apparently we also hate the players that do play when they feel nothing like themselves.

Trey Murphy has to actually want the ball for CJ to defer and not just stand like a statue and hope the defense forgets him.

There is no one to defer to as a #2.

He's painfully obviously deferred to BI and BI has been the #1 option down the stretch.

Who tf else do you want CJ to defer to? Other than Val who the coaching staff doesn't care about, there is no other viable 2nd option, it quite literally had to be CJ.

And I swear if you say Trey should be the #2 option, I'm gonna lose my shite.

cue the offseason puff pieces. CJ is healing and never missing another 3. Zion is down 3.5 pounds. Ingram is in Jamaica mon smoking and bulking. Trey working on rebounding and handle. yaddy yaddy yaddy.

Sure to a degree. However, there have been MANY times Trey or whoever have had a clear look at the rim and he decides to take a highly contested shot.

He's option 3 on a Zion/BI team

So suck it.

That's the biggest issue with Trey. He's too quick to attack a closeout with a defender waiting for him in the key. He still has develop a better feel for letting the shot fly when there's daylight vs dribbling the ball into the teeth of the defense.

The flashes we saw were tantalizing.

And the thing is, he may never grow into a legit #2, and that's ok, he can still be a really good player.

But he has a loooong ways to go offensively to get to be a #2 option.

All I know is, 2 months ago, it wouldn't have even been a thought, so it's a great sign that he showed those flashes over the past few weeks.

CJ sucked the last 2 games but he is very low on our list of issues. Dude is a true pro, and I'm glad he is here

With BI on the floor I get what you're saying, but when he played with Nance/Dyson/Richardson/Naji down the stretch there's literally no one to defer to, injured CJ is a better initiator than any of those guys.

Even when it's JV and CJ in the game as the big 2 offensive players it's tough for him not to have to carry a big workload.
