Willie playing Cody Zeller over Trey Murphy in crunch time says everything you need to know about his philosophy and mindset. He refuses to embrace the small ball potential of this team and cannot make the right decisions in a tight game to save his life.
Pelicans have borderline championship level talent but Willie’s coaching and the Zion problem will have them fighting for the play in down the stretch yet again.

Did the same thing by starting Dyson in the Wizards game. Maybe he just doesn't think too highly of Trey for some reason. Seems to happen every year. Last year, it was Richardson. And his minutes have been all over the place this year.

It's obvious with Willie as head coach this team will never reach it's potential. He will always play less talented role players over our 1st round picks, he will try his hardest to make sure Zion and Trey are on the court together as little as possible. And when Larry comes back he will play him heavy minutes at the 5 subbing Val out the first chance he gets. We was excited about a lineup of Zion Trey and Hawk but deep down we all knew that Willie was never going to let that happen. All off season they said we need to take more 3's and spacing and he sits his best shooters on the bench while Naji and Jose gives us fool gold shooting a good percentage on low volume knowing good well they want be able to keep up those percentages even with the low volume. I have no idea why he is so stubborn like every one sees some obvious fixes but he will never do it.

The problem I have is why is Trey leash so short? I could see guys like Naji having a short leash but Trey has the potential of going off at any second. I feel alot better with the ship going down with Trey on the court than they ship going down with Trey on the bench watching Zeller.

I was thinking maybe Trey tweaked something because he was not the same guy in the little bit of time he played in second half.

Exactly. Trey doesn’t need to fricking earn minutes- this aint no young rookie. Hes a vital piece of our core that deserves minutes over defensive role players.

Treys also a guy who can get hot at any point. He’s always a threat. He can go 0-6 to start a game, but can score points quickly at any moment. Plus he’s always making the right decision. At least more so than a lot of guys on this team

Zion is a two time all star who has done things that only MJ has done early in a career and he was asked to space in the corner so we could run BI and Cody Zeller pick and rolls. Think about that. There isn’t another coach in the league who would design a fourth quarter offense that way with our roster.
