Draft targets

The Pelicans pick 51st in the 2018 draft. I believe you try to go after guys with high upside that can contribute something when you pick this late in the draft. Go best available regardless of position.
Justin Jackson F from Maryland: Jackson is a 6’7 SF with a 7’2 wingspan that shot 44% from 3 in college and can guard multiple positions. Downside is he had a bad shoulder injury but if it checks out ok then he can be a potential steal for us
Josh Okogie G/F from Georgia tech: physical freak with a 7’0 wingspan that shoots the ball well. Doubt he falls to us but maybe if he drops enough we can trade up to get him. One of the more well known prospects in the later rounds
Shake Milton G from SMU: 6’7 guard with a 6’11 wingspan. He can run the offense and reminds me of a Shaun Livingston type because of his length. He is also excellent in catch and shoot situations which would be ideal in our offense.
Trevon Duval G from Duke: 6’3 with a 7’0 wingspan. He has great size and is one of the best floor generals in the draft. Good physical defender and has potential. Terrible shooter and teams can sag off him on defense which can be a big problem in today’s league
Alize Johnson F 6’9 from Missouri state: Versatile forward that rebounds the ball well. Showed mixed signs in college from behind the arc. He’s definitely not one of the best athletes but has shown he can guard multiple positions and can bring some value to a team
Chimezie Metu 6’11 F/C from USC: Explosive athlete and is best used as more of an off ball threat on offense. Very limited with the ball in his hands and can struggle to finish and doesnt have a great jump shot. He’s a shot blocker who uses his athleticism and quick feet to guard multiple positions.
Any thoughts on who y’all would like to see us go after or anybody who has y’all interest?

Multiple writers from BSS and LOP said that it looks like Pels wont use cash or others assets to move up in draft.
So forget about Okogie.
And probably maybe Duval and Milton.
My top guys are
[assuming Musa, Melton, Okogie, Bruce Brown, Frazier, Evans, Diop, J. Robinson are gone.]
vanderbilt, Wagner, J. Jackson, Allen, Carter, Kulboka, Alkins, Trier, K.Williams, Diallo, Mc Coy, Mykhailuk. without specific order

if Hamidou Diallo (sp?) is still available in the second round i think we'd be crazy not to pick him. didn't light it up with uk last season but he def has the natural athletic ability you can't teach.

I assume just sell it/try to use it to dump Anjica. There are a handful of role players that have ver been drafted past 50 and supposedly this draft sucks for draft and stash candidates.
I seriously doubt we would carry a late 2nd round pick with Cheick and Frank on the roster. Most likely scenario is that it gets moved for $$$. Maybe we get burned eventually in a Korver like situation, but unlikely.

Could do that, then buy a 2nd round pick somewhere in the late 30s.

Pels wont be using cash considerations to buy a pick.
They will probably use cash as an asset in trade.
So they will select or sell.
Because of cost control of rookie contract - they will rather select 51 IMO

Still think we move the 2nd, but with the addition of Ainars Bagatskis to the Summer League coaching staff, it makes we wonder about whether we are looking at Rodions Kurucs as perhaps a draft and stash with our 2nd round pick (or paying to move up slightly).

SHADES OF: Nicolas Batum, Jonas Jerebko, Chandler Parsons
PLUSES Explosive at-rim finisher with soft touch. Good spot-up shooting potential, but needs to develop a higher release point. Smart player who makes accurate passes and understands his strengths. Fluid ball handler who changes directions quickly and knows how to create space, which suggests he has untapped pick-and-roll potential.
MINUSES Rigid shooter off the dribble who needs to smooth out his transition into his shot. Developed ball-stopping habits this past season; played only limited minutes and forced things when he got in the game. Ineffective rebounder and defender at this stage due to lack of strength and lateral quickness. Needs to improve defensive fundamentals to become adequate on that end of the floor.

Arnoldas Kulboka could be an option as well.

Demps and rookie cost control is laughable

Hard for me not to think we shouldn't be going after Melvin Frazier.
I mean, how many NBA players from the West Bank are there? Like...three?
