Still waiting for Moses Moody to develop. shite doesn't always happen.

If rooks were judged on such a small sample, Dyson would be a bust.
Eh, I kinda disagree. Even early on, we could see that Dyson had the potential to be an elite defender.
And he couldn't score, but his handle was always good, and he could pass. He didn't turn the ball over.
Sometimes you can see early on that a player (like Dyson) has an elite ability, and you have to wait and hope that the rest of that player's game comes together.
That was the frustration for us with Hayes and NAW: they had elite abilities, but couldn't put everything together.
In contrast, there are guys like E.J. Liddell. Everyone loves E.J., but I never saw any part of his game that looked elite. The best that you can hope for in such cases in something like a Naji Marshall -- a guy who's not really elite at anything, but is competent enough with multiple phases of his game that he can contribute.

Everyone wanted Dick or Lively. Lively has been solid, but Hawkins has been the best of the 3.

I covered this exact topic after the draft. Was always a big Williams fan. Still woukd take Dyson over him.
Coulda had him if Griff didn’t make the stupid Graham trade. No way was he worth including a potential first in that desl.

Its hard to say what the ceiling is for either guy. Really just depends on if Dyson develops a consistent 3pt shot.
Williams looks like a guy who will be a 10 year vet. Currently averaging 13 and 10.

Hope I wasn’t in the wasted pick camp, but both Duren and Williams look pretty good and would absolutely absolutely hole on our current roster.
That said I’m happy with dyson. Pair him next to an offensive guard like Hawkins and it’s particularly good.

The issue is we’ve never had the balls the trade back up/ back in to get that guy.
We’ve spent our “war chest” on slight upgrades or dumps so far besides CJ.
I’d love a draft where we take 2 possible first rd picks and decide to take a proven talent instead of a project at center.

If we offered Dyson straight up for either of those guys their respective GMs would laugh and hang up the phone.
ETA: Talking about Duren or Williams. Griff would make that trade in a NY second if he could.

If you did a 2022 redraft, I think that Dyson would probably still go about #8 overall. Here's the first 9, along with some others who are making significant contributions:
1. Magic draft Paolo Banchero (Duke)
2. Thunder draft Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga)
3. Rockets draft Jabari Smith (Auburn)
4. Kings draft Keegan Murray (Iowa)
5. Pistons draft Jaden Ivey (Purdue)
6. Pacers draft Bennedict Mathurin (Arizona)
7. Blazers draft Shaedon Sharpe (Kentucky)
8. Pelicans draft Dyson Daniels (G League Ignite)
9. Spurs draft Jeremy Sochan (Baylor)
12. Thunder draft Jalen Williams (Santa Clara)
13. Hornets draft Jalen Duren (Memphis) — Traded to DET in 3-team deal
15. Hornets draft Mark Williams (Duke)
17. Rockets draft Tari Eason (LSU)
19. Timberwolves draft Jake LaRavia (Wake Forest) — Traded to MEM
21. Nuggets draft Christian Braun (Kansas)
22. Grizzlies draft Walker Kessler (Auburn) — Traded to MIN

Lots of Gms make horrible decisions on the reg. Griff included. I wouldn’t make that trade and I was high on both of the centers that draft.

We keep playing like this, I may have to stick my dick in some gravy and keep the momentum going.
