It’s absolutely attainable. It’s just wild that we can’t even expect it from him. It’s fricking December and he doesn’t look ANY different. And he’s playing basketball every other day. I can’t imagine what he must be eating and doing outside of practice and games. He must be gorging himself

And you wonder who is personal trainer or fitness coach is now? If he has one or is just relying on the team guys. If its the team guys- they are absolutely failing him. I think almost every NBA superstar player has a personal trainer or fitness guy.

Being in good shape is not easy. Being in elite shape is incredibly difficult. A very small % of people ever get close to their optimum condition. It's almost impossible to do it without a lot of assistance. The fact he has only trained half hearted and coasted on his genetic gifts is pretty amazing. It was always going to catch up with him eventually..

Can you tell me the % of elite NBA players who are not in shape for 5 consecutive seasons? It’s rare to be in elite shape when you are in the NBA, as this involves a job with a primary aspect being to run constantly. frick off with your stupid arse post.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't kidnap Zion and tie him to a chair to keep him from guzzling mountain dew all afternoon.

full time chef doesn’t matter if Zion is ordering fried Twinkie sandwiches.

If someone says that if that horse drinks water- your whole life will change. You better find a way to make him drink that god damn water.

Well, you just missed the whole point of the adage.

Ok. You cant force Zion to do anything I get it. But again if he’s under contract and your job depends on it- you have to find a way. Just cant be like I cant do it and get fired. Otherwise trade him to get rid of him and start over.

What sucks is that if Zion was teamed up with LeBron he would have hazed Zion into getting in shape and he probably would have exceeded the hype. We have no one on the roster that can do that to him. As great as CJ may be as a leader, he just doesn’t seem to be tough enough to do what needs to be done.

It falls on Zion solely but having FO, coaches and players that hold others accountable would be great. Guys like Lebron, Jim Butler, CP3, would be riding his arse. Can’t think of many orgs that would stand for this tbh

Exactly my point. If I’m the owner of this team- I would find this fricking embarrassing. Frankly, I would have thought twice about even extending Zion. This is partly on ownership and the organization as well. There are too many enablers. Pat Riley called out Kyle Lowry- who is freaking former nba champ- that he was out of shape. Griffin meanwhile feeds us lies in regards to how great Zion has been invested and our owner has no input. Even Swinn(who I genuinely like) is tweeting unfair one player is getting attention for team loss. Sometimes being publicly called out by your own team, stops the enabling.

I'm sure there are many. But that is not my point. We keep saying how easy it is to get into elite condition and it's just the case. It is very difficult, and it takes a lot of resources to get there. There needs to be a defined plan for him to get there. He has to buy in, and it has to be guided, with specific targets and goals.

I'm not making excuses for him. I just believe that people are too casual about the level of commitment and effort that it takes. It's not just eating a better diet and getting some extra cardio in. It's way more than that.

This can’t be real . This dude makes an ungodly amount of money to play a game . The minimum requirement is to be conditioned to play said game .

He is in the worst shape of every player in the nba . Not middle of the pack . Dead last . It’s an embarrassment

It’s easier to ignore him. He’s the biggest dumbfrick on this board by a mile. Spicy should be so lucky he takes the heat off of his terrible takes.

Problem is the Pels would be giving games until he gets hurt (likely) or plays himself into shape. I'm not off Zion, however, you can't put him out there for extended minutes and completely derail the team because he doesn't get back on defense, is a turnstyle in the half-court, and doesn't rebound.

Coaches have the power to distribute minutes and the Pels have three players (TM3, Hawkins, Dyson) who have earned minutes but are getting short-changed. Best option, in my opinion, is to get 25 'good minutes' out of Zion and progressively ramp up.

if he would just eat a high protein low carb diet and run everyday you’d see good results in him in 2 or 3 weeks.

This is what I have a hard time wrapping my head around. It’s not like he has to eat rice cakes and salads. He’s got the money to hire a gourmet chef, and access to some of the best seafood in the world, but instead he’s eating donuts and Cheetos.
