re: It all just depends on how many games Zion plays this year

If Zion plays 70 games, we have a chance…. I’m not counting on it, though.

Zion is a fat, soft BUST

Last year was the "he's a new father and this will make him become professional" year. This year is the "Joe Dumars finally got through to him" year. What will it be next year?
Well stated. Time to accept pennies on the dollar and trade his arse while some salvage value is there.

What does Vegas have on this 70 game thing? Over and under? Will Willie/Joe even play him 70 games if healthy?

Zion played 70 games two seasons ago. And, yet, half this board is my utterly convinced that it can't possibly happen again.
How many has he played in his career? That’s a bigger sample size. 214 games out of a possible 482 or about 44% of games played. That comes out to be 36 games per season. It’s reasonable to assume Zion will be somewhere in that 30s to low 40s range.

The granny injuries are probably good at this point.
Independent of the funny typo, this is a hilarious thing to say about Zion: that his hamstring issues are a thing of the past. God, I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

He plays 70 new orleans is a top 6 seed

I see the most likely outcomes
1. He plans fewer than 65 games and struggles with whatever issues. We aren't able to trade him and we have to cut him.
2. He plays a significant number of games. But still misses time and wants to be moved. We get some value for him in a trade.
3. He plays over 65 games, has a great statistical year and carrys the team to a good record. He demands an extension (fully guaranteed). We trade him for a nice return.
Of course I'm pulling for option #3, which I think is what the organization hopes. They don't want Zion anymore, but need value back from him. No matter what, I don't think he's a Pelican to start the '26-'27 season..

Mark, why do you think that Dumars sent Zion to represent the team at the draft lottery?

Olive branch?
I know that Dumars wants to rehab Zion's image and increase his value. He needs him engaged and bought in for that to happen. Also, I don't think Dunars wanted to go. Seemed like a good idea..
