Pelicans/Saints and info.leaking

All of the sports shows are talking about the Pelicans shopping Zion as a major NBA storyline. I started thinking about the Saints and how tight lipped they are about releasing information. Since they are the same organization, I tend to think that this huge leak is an attempt to send a message to Zion. Essentially, we can go on without you. Either get on board or you will be sent to some dreadful NBA team like the Hornets.
Whatever they are doing, this “leak” has a purpose and wasn’t an accident.

This is a game of telephone. Look at the initial reports. They are clearly Charlotte Leaks, and:
They do not say that Zion is available for trade. They say "What if Zion was available for trade?"
And then the game of telephone begins where a hypothetical or musing becomes "Zion is available for trade"

I don’t think there’s any doubt this was a leak, just one that seems to have come from Charlotte. Anytime something is leaked the question should be “who has the most to gain from this?” The Pelicans leaking this info wouldn’t make sense unless the goal is to send Zion a message. Otherwise I can’t see a scenario where the leak wasn’t from charlotte

For sure, the only thing we know with any degree of certainty is that the pelicans reached out to Charlotte asking what it would take to get the #2 pick. Every other piece of info has been phrased as a hypothetical. The closest thing we have to anything else is that stein report which quoted “a well placed observer” saying “if the pelicans think they can get scoot, they would consider offering Zion.” Which again, is a hypothetical scenario cited by someone who likely isn’t inside the organization

The OP is just saying, even if it was all fabricated, it will send a message to Zion. I agree. This BS of not playing when he should be available, especially in the playoffs isn't going to cut it.

Crazy thought popped into my head, what if the Zion trade leaks are coming from Pels/Zions team to take heat off the baby momma drama.
Throw out trade leaks, have the entire league salivate how good Zion could be if healthy and in the right situation and not talk about his baby momma drama.
No way that is true, but, crazier things have happened behind the scenes.

The funny thing is...I hadn't thought about her twitter and that whole issue for a couple of days. When I read your post, it jogged my memory, so I was only going to check out her Twitter just with the intention of seeing what she's said the past day or so.
And low and behold, I found a tweet of her saying the trade news was fake to deflect from the baby momma drama story lol.

I think Gayle Benson told management she wants Zion gone and they've been aggressive about it to the point that enough people- from both Pels and other franshises- have had conversations about it. If enough people have had conversations, then the opportunity to leak increases.

Are we sure Zion wouldn’t rather be on the hornets? It’s not like we’re the Celtics or the lakers or some other historic franchise. We’re a pretty shite organization historically in a crappy market.

No doubt pels front office is putting selective info out. Just seems like they’re not very good at controlling the story properly. Also have no doubt that baby mama drama was initiated inside the building.
