I think CJ will be just fine next year, when he hopefully, just plays his natural "shooting guard" position...and stays healthy for the whole year. JMO

Can you then explain your plan to get a replacement player that is better than CJ?

That's not a realistic option the Celtics, c'mon now.

Unless you're adding Trey, I don't think Boston is making that deal without proven young studs.

I mean, why not go for Tatum?

CJ can be replaced by DD or Kira. There also a couple of players from Baylor and Arkansas that are pretty good scorers for added depth in this upcoming draft. One of them should be available
IMO Zion is not a CJ fan. Z took a swipe at CJ when he talked about not wanting to play injured because that would hurt the team. Now we know CJ played with a bad shoulder in addition to his hand injury. This reminds me of Drew when he couldn't pass and threw multiple interceptions against Tampa but the fans blamed the tight end for the defeat. We saw last night that CJ's play hurt the team. CJ is a very good shooter but his defense and playmaking are below average. These injuries took away CJ's best skill and rendered him ineffective. Look how OKC guards scored last night.
I don't think you can repair the damage between the two. Other players take sides and that division destroys team chemistry.
It's obvious that Gayle will avoid the luxury tax. You have to pay Herb and TM. Someone has to geaux.

I don’t think there’s any reason to read the rest of the post after this doozy of an opener.

I can definitely say I hadn't considered that.

You don't think they can repair the damage you're speculating on and have no clue if there is truly a huge riff?

keep trey, ingram, herb.
if Jose recovers keep him.

I would attempt to reestablish zions value by summer league games.
as soon as he has played well I move him for "the haul."
goodbye jv.
goodbye kira
goodbye hayes.

I appreciate cj.
maybe too much money for what he can do on the floor. reminds me of Alice in wonderland line Depp to Alice, You've lost your muchness.

Well, we certainly COULD do that. I don’t see why anyone would WANT to do that.

he's not big enough to lock down a 6 5 2 guard or fast enough to stop the best Pg.

he's now the 8th man on a championship team.

his play with an injured hand can be likened to the native American plains warriors. guys in the heat of battle with an arrow in them.
we can tell the story to our grandchildren how the courageous nba union leader played hurt the year zion was afraid to fail.

Improvements:
1- get Willie some coaching help
2- continued growth on young talent
3- BI gets healthy & takes next step as star
4- get Zion off team

On #4, a generational talent that can’t or won’t play is worth nothing & I’d argue a net negative for the team. It’s distracting and a waste of assets. Cut your losses and get someone(s) that contribute. If you’re getting 75 cents On the dollar, it’s better than the 100% you have that’s in street clothes. That is the unfortunate truth we must face. Further, Z’s greatest asset is his explosive ability, which causes his health issues & is also a diminishing asset as he ages. If he were someone like Lebron who focused on being in his best shape, that’s worth riding. That’s not what we are seeing & I’d argue Z is on the opposite side doing the minimum

JMO: I think one of the major strengths of the Pels is the fact that, given their roster, they DON'T really need a "true PG". To take full advantage of this...they have, and MUST use, one of their versatile big wing defenders to play whatever you want to call our "1" position. The advantageous defensive ability of the "1" that we end up using...should allow us to move CJ around defensively depending on our opponents...to try & hide his obvious shortcomings.

BTW: I think CJ only has one more solid year in him...before something must change.

BTW, Part 2: Big postup "5s" are a dying breed. The next endangered species will be the small "true" PG. Given our roster, the Pels have kinda "stumbled into" being able to possibly being ahead of the curve...in this "get away from the small true PG" trend in the NBA.
