Hard to read this and come away with any other impression than the team is a bunch of meanie heads who won't let him play
I didn’t get that impression at all

We don’t know if anything reported has actually been true. I have said from the beginning that it wouldn’t surprise me one but if he was much further along than they let on when he came back. He had 2-3 months in Portland after the injection. If it wasn’t progressing, he would have had another surgery.
If he is cleared for that activity he absolutely needs to play.

get fans are impatient and after seeing that video, that was the point of Zion posting it.
But can you get the team’s position?
After seeing that video I can get that he can PROBABLY PROGRESS TO 1v1 WORK IN PRACTICE for fricks sake
Zion posted this because the team leaked to Shams that they were shutting him down this year.. Meanwhile he's not thrilled about doing bullshite shootarounds for a month for no reason
The teams position is basically "he won't be back this year, so no reason to progress him until the offseason"

How long did it take this team to find an identity and rhythm under Green? Hell they still are.
Zion hasn’t practiced a SINGLE time in Green’s system with the team, and he’s not some multi year vet like McCollum or Snell. Just throwing him in there is not a good idea

Why would playing him be a bad idea? We aren’t going anywhere without him. Do we need to be loyal to Gary Clark? He is the best player on the team. If he is healthy, then he needs to start playing immediately. This could be a 15 game head start into next year. Plus, if they sit him for non medical “cautious” reasons again then I highly doubt the relationship will be salvageable.

OK so take our current scheme, and that play where Naji freakin Marshall does a tracy McGrady impersonation, sub Zion into his place

There’s a difference between being healthy and being in nba playoff condition.
And need I remind everyone…
Zion thought he was healthy in December and ramped all the way up to 5 on 5…
And still hasn’t played because he wasn’t healthy.

But if he wants to play and we don’t play him, he’s basically gone.
Posted on 3/22/22 at 9:46 pm to touchdownjeebus
Cool. Let him be a baby. He will be fine when he’s playing next year.
This may be why he did it. People on this board calling him a worthless sack of fat shite 2 days ago are begging for him to play.

Yeah it’s always funny to see how easily this board is swayed. Some picture comes out tomorrow at a weird angle that makes him look fat and we’ll have 5 “shoulda drafted Ja” threads up within minutes.
Posted on 3/22/22 at 9:50 pm to LesGeaux45
I’m not swayed. I don’t think he should play and risk long term injury, but at this point, frick it.
He won’t be happy unless he plays. So let his arse play and let’s see what happens. If he’s good, his value increases. If he still doesn’t want to be here, at least we can recoup some assets.

Because our broke dick management has us 99.9% in the dark.. So Shams comes out and says "he's really not close" and everyone assumes he's barely progresses past 'weight bearing'
Then we find out he's launching rim rockers from the free throw line...

Sorry I don’t think I expressed myself clearly. I have no issue with playing him at all.
My issue was with the notion that there’s no reason not to play him, because I think there are quite a few reasons to at least not let him play until he gets at least 1 or 2 practices in. I also think that next year is a much bigger year for the franchise anyway, and especially with Zion I’m on team better safe than sorry

My stance to play him is based on him being 100%. Obviously, we have been misled on where he was at in the rehab. As of 12 hours ago we were still being told that he was “progressing towards weight bearing.” Of course he should practice before getting on the court. Until we see otherwise, I just saw a video of him pull off a dunk that we haven’t seen since before his rookie year. Even when you are Zion, you don’t pull that dunk off unless you have been weight bearing, running, and jumping for at least 4-6 weeks.

Just as a reminder for everyone on the exact wording in the Shams article:
Nowhere does anyone say he “isn’t close”. It’s mentioned that progress is being made but with recognition that with 2.5 weeks left in the season it’s going to be difficult for him to progress through the practice ramp up to get back on the court. It’s awesome that he can dunk in an empty gym, but he needs to get through 5-on-5 before he’s ready to come back into what is going to be a meat grinder end to the season.
As it’s been said, he thought he was a okay in December and then had yet another set back. I wouldn’t take his word on it.

Sources said Zion Williamson is not expected to return to play this season, but that he is making progress toward on-court work. So far, Williamson has been seen doing stationary shooting and is able to bear weight on his injured foot. New Orleans has 11 regular-season games remaining, which leaves an improbably tight window for Williamson to complete the team’s ramp-up stages ranging from one-on-zero to five-on-five scrimmaging. Williamson returned to New Orleans two weeks ago after rehabbing his fractured foot injury in Portland, and the 21-year-old has been cleared to gradually progress in basketball activities. He has been attending Pelicans home games and has appeared to be in positive spirits around teammates and coaches. Williamson underwent surgery to repair his broken foot last summer and had several return targets delayed this season.

LOL.
You can throw Zion into any team in the NBA. The dude averaged 27 on 60% playing with Bledsoe and Adams.

I don’t have a strong opinion on whether or not to play Zion, but Brandon Ingram is our best player (right now).

Healthy Zion is miles better than BI though.

I love BI, but when Zion plays he's generational.
