I think Ivey is the target

Not sure if he is the right pick long term, but in my mind he would improve the projected 2022/2023 roster the most of any guy we could add. There are clear minutes to be had for a SG who can create his own offense.

I really like Dyson Daniels the more I read about him.

The only thing he really needs is work with Vinson.

8 might be a little rich for him though

Wasnt eligible. I think he skipped his senior year of HS to go to college. He became eligible in like January and by then Calipari said “nah you ain’t playing still”. They both agreed to it tho.

Look at last year's draft for us (all upperclassmen including Jose), and what teams generally do once they have their stars in place. They generally go for upperclassmen and "win now" players.

Defense and basketball IQ have been shown as top priorities as well.

Herb Jones - 2021 SEC Defensive Player of the Year

Jose Alvarado - 2021 ACC Defensive Player of the Year (not drafted, but still signed by Pels)

Jaxson Hayes - 2019 Big 12 All-Defensive Team

Bunch could you imagine the playoff Celtics, with their hoards of draft picks, drafting buddy hield or Kris Dunn instead of Jaylen brown & jayson Tatum & what that franchise would look like right now

I'm just saying what they are going to do in that scenario, not what I want them to do.

I wonder if people have actually watched Sharpe tape. Absolute freak. Zach Lavine type player. He is Ja Morant on steroids

If you go back and watch every top 10 prospects high school highlights they look like future NBA all stars. It’s not to say Sharpe won’t get there, but it’s impossible to tell. The other prospects you can actually watch full games of them playing D1 talent for context.

Would not mind sharpe at 8 at all. He was the #1 prospect coming out of HS. If he played a game in college, he would have been definitely a top 3 pick.

I'd like to see Sharpe do some workouts, but he'd probably be a dream scenario.

I just hope he comes out. Which, the long-term economics say he really should, unless he is absolutely certain he can move himself up to top 3(and even then over a forecasted career, he's better off earning as soon as possible, so he can get to that second and third contract as young as possible), in what many think will be an even stronger top end draft next year.

if we can get him at 8.. wooowweee. I mean he was projected to be a top 5 pick in next years draft with a much bigger talent pool. Getting him 8 this year is a steal.

But we need to see if he declares still

I think his situation will be like Garland 2.0 in terms of where he'll be drafted.

Garland played like 5 games at vandy

I also love Dyson Daniels. He is going to be a plus defender and an above average passer on the wing. Obviously he’s going to need to shoot it better, but his shot doesn’t look broken, just needs some tweaking. I also love his fit for this team more than a lot of other prospects, specifically someone like Davis. We can give him a clear role early on to just defend like hell and make open shots. I like the idea of taking him at 10 him a lot more than at 8 though. To me, Sharpe falling to us is the dream scenario. But if the big 3, Ivey, Griffin, Sharpe, and Murray are off the board, I’m perfectly fine with taking Daniels over Mathurin (though Mathurin is the much safer pick). I’m in the minority right now, but I would straight up take Daniels over Davis.

That's interesting. Did he just quit high school and get a GED or some shite? lol

Funny story, my best friend in high school did just that. Same age as me. Quits high school, next thing I know I'm a senior in high school when he starts his 1st year of college after going get his GED. DIdn't even think that was possible.

I assume it was one of those graduating early scenarios.

I guess I missed the part where you were credentialed as a pro scout in all 3 sports.

I like Daniel's, but I wouldn't take him over Johnny Davis. But I would take Mathurin over both right now.

But I'm with yall on Sharpe. He is number 5 on my board, right behind Ivey. He could easily go back to Kentucky and be a top 2 pick next year. So if we don't jump into the top 4, Sharpe is gonna be the guy I pray falls to us at 8. Don't think he falls that far though. He'll kill the private workouts and go top 6.

You don’t have to be a scout to see that not all highly rated prospects are the same

I like Johnny Davis but for me he seems more like a good bench player as his projection. Similar to Josh Hart but with a midrange. Idk if that’s something I’d want as my 8th pick. His ceiling is a bit limited compared to other players but he may give you more contribution immediately. Compared to a Duren or Sochan or even a Daniels.
