He's an average basketball player that we can't afford, why are you bringing him up?

Try at least 1 of Herb/Dyson and 4 or more 1sts.

The NBA doesn't share local broadcast income. So a team like the Lakers earn $100M while the Pels probably earn crumbs.
The real issues with the Pels are ownership and Griffin. Gayle doesn't hold her managers accountable. She is a social person and never operated any large organization. She hates terminating anyone that gives the appearance of loyalty.
Griff is a used car sales person. He is a micro manager. He rushed the Pels timeline with the Portland and Chicago trades. The organization is paying the price now with salary cap inflexibility. Griff saved himself with the Portland trade and unneeded Nance and CJ extensions. Just look how Memphis and OKC for small market models not Griff's microwave plans.

They signed 2 bad basketball players in Hayes and Reddish

Come on Shel, I dislike the LeDrama led Lakers as much as anyone on this board but they got better at the trade deadline and have gotten better over the summer. They took flyers on Reddish and Jaxson @ minimums, Schifano is a great prospect and Russell is a bucket getter that are both cost controlled, they resigned AR15 and RUI who both show good to great potential. Additionally they still have Vanderbilt as a mid season acquisition. Last year at this time I said Pels were significantly better than the Lakers, can’t say that now. Hate to admit it but they got great value from a bunch of overpays (Westbrook, Nunn, and Tucker).

They brought back guys from last season.

Their new additions didn't actually get better. Reddish and Hayes are poor basketball players. Vincent had a postseason run but was a below average basketball player intine regular season. Prince is maybe average at best. I'm curious as to what new dudes you think made them better?

Schroder isn't good but he's a much better fit than Vincent and also just a better player.

Unless they are well run like the Spurs and compete for championships for 20 years.

Organization competence is the important variable. They were lucky to get a Duncan but built the rest of the roster.

That’s fair. We’ll find out as the season progresses and hopefully I’m wrong (Did I say how much I detest the LeDrama Lakers). Rui and Russell were not viewed as needle movers but helped get them to the conference finals. We all rag on players, but so much of their value depends on system and development. I’m cool with the Pels running it back (sans their Pivot situation) but as a small market who’s margins are flatter than BOS, LA, Miami, GS they have to have a defined system, a great eye for talent, very good at development, and a little lucky….. ask Bud, Pop, and Malone.

If we had made any of the deals the Lakers made, everyone would be bitching.

I’d agree with every one of them except the Reaves signing. I look at that one similarly to our Herb signing. Everything else was meh at best.

Those signings are what Dell would have done while he was our GM.

For as much bitching as people do about Griff, the talent level as a whole is much higher than it was under Dell and a number of Griff’s dumber transactions were due to trying to undo some of Dell’s messes, like Solomon Hill.

Eric Gordon signs with Phoenix Suns. The Suns were a team I have pulled AGAINST forever. They added KD and, then, really hated the team and pulled against every game and hoped they never get out of first round of playoffs.

Now with Booker, KD, Beal, and, especially, Gordon; that makes it a team that I hate, despise, loathe, detest abhor more than I do any other team in the NBA including even the lakers.

In a vacuum (no other team involved) why would they do this? They want to go young and rebuild.

In order to get Dame it’s more like Kira, Trey, Dyson/Herb, 4 firsts and salary filler.

Yes I would complain if the Pels made many of those acquisitions. The point I was making is the Lakers can, Pels can't. The Lakers can make mistake after mistake and just cover it up each year because the salary cap means nothing to them, and the Warriors. They will buy players, and compete. Like I posted. The NBA is ridiculous.

Dame / Dyson / Jose
Herb / Hawkins
Ingram / TM3
Zion / TM3 / Liddell / Nance
Chet / JV / Zeller

Broken trades are fun

You must stop dreaming...
Why would he go back with McCollum ? Why would he want to go to a Play-In team ? Especially since there are no rumors that Lillard wants to play for the Pels.

Lillard will go to Miami if the blazers' FO isn't cunning

What is this saying?? You think if BI and Zion stay healthy we aren’t in the thick of it?? With just Zion healthy of the two we were a top 3 team in the West.

Wtf are you talking about? They’re NOTHING like the warriors or many other teams in terms of being able to pay out the arse for many seasons. The only source of income for the lakers owner is the lakers. Gayle probably has more money than Jeanie Buss
