If we’re going to trade for a star, it needs to be Jaylen Brown, not Trae Young

Again, I’m with that, but is he available?

This thread blew up in some faces
Did you watch the game tonight?

I don't see how anyone can watch tonight's game and with a straight face say they'd want Trae Young on this team.

He was targeted nonstop on defense. And when you're arguing the worst perimeter defender in the league, it won't end well for you.

Look man, im not trying to trade anything significant for young. All im saying is if you can get him for much of nothing why not? His stock is incredibly low right now, he’s terrible on defense, and his contract is bad which will bring his trade value down. But you love you some CJ so I know it won’t get through to you

And let’s not act like the Celtics aren’t the perfect kryptonite to Trae young. They can guard him 1-4, this just isn’t a series that’s made for him. Newsflash: he won’t be playing the Celtics until the finals in the west and he wouldn’t be the focal point like he is now

You seriously can probably get him for CJ and Dyson/Kira at this point and not even have to attach a pick. They might just attach one to get him out

1. You can't get him for nothing, so I don't really see the value in discussing that?

2. Because you don't won't basketball players like Trae young on max contracts who are only effective dominating the ball(so what do we do with Zion/BI), is the worst perimeter defender in the NBA, is a coach killer, and his teams are seemingly never happy.

I'll take CJ on this squad any day over Trae Young, it's not terribly close.

And we immediately become a worse team, hard pass.

I just don't know why you'd ever want a max player who is the specific reason a team loses because he is not good enough on 1 side of the court. We're not talking about a bad game, 1 bad shooting performance, but something a team can repeatedly take advantage of over and over that he is bad at, arguably worst in the NBA at even.

"Superstar" that is completely unreliable and does not care is close to a waste of cap space.

You really think Young's value is that low?

People around here believe it's higher than Murray's. Teams like the Spurs and Rockets are flush with space. They need a big contract vet to balance out rosters and eat up space. I'm sure there are a ton of teams that could out bid that offering..

They have nothing to lose, I think it would be perfect situation for them

That's what I'm saying. There are a bunch of lower tier teams that are going to spend this offseason. The Rockets are talking about getting Harden back. If those teams are told that Young is available, there is going to be a bidding war..

As for Trae on Pels he can win a game and he has heart but he's no defender.

I pass.

likely gone
temple
hayes
hernangomez

trade bait
kira

to be improved if possible
they are good but not quite it.
cj
jv

resolution during summer league
Zion

draft
lively.

there appear to be only two sure fire shooters in this draft.

Fwiw I did not expect mathurin to be a nice two way

Trae actually plays and is a high volume 3 point shooter

CJ took .5 more 3’s per game this season and shot them at almost 39% while trae shot them at 33%.

Y’all were up in arms saying CJ sucked and needed to take less 3’s but want to bring in a guy that makes them even less?

Has anyone mentioned yet that he's a career 35% 3 point shooter, and in the playoffs that dips to 29%?

25 playoff games....29% from 3

Not in detail, but yes I did call out that he was not a good 3pt shooter in this thread.

It's a common misconception about him for sure.

So many people think that usage and volume = good.

Yep, I replied to someone saying he was a "deadly" 3pt shooter.
