Bird Writes:

quote:

So far in the preseason, Dyson Daniels is averaging 10.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks while shooting 52% from the floor (41.6 3P%).

That’s good stuff. If he develops into a good defensive point forward that can knock downs 3s this team is in much better shape.

Really? Because I saw people saying we should trade him while he still has some value and that he’ll never be decent on offense.

I was one of the people who was down on him and still want to see more but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by him. Hes been actually one of the few pelicans that have been impressive these past two games specifically.

You do realize a lot of nba players that are below drinking age still ball out?? Basically every player drafted before him had pretty good rookie season and most were under 21. Regardless, I’m happy that Dyson is being aggressive and showing confidence offensively. So maybe you can chill out Lester lol

Dyson was always a guy you bank on being way better around age 25 than his first few years in the league.

Like a Mikal Bridges type of career arc.

Dyson/Trey/Herb...are the foundation for this team. Or at least, they will be in a year or so. One of BI/Zion, has got to go...maybe even both. The key is to get decent value for them, when it happens.

Great to see Dyson stepping up a bit. Just a matter of time. Of course, Herb is continuing to get better and can't wait to get Trey back.

By the way, I read where "somebody" said for the entire first half of yesterday's game...the Pels took ONLY one shot from the field that wasn't either...

1. A 3-pt shot or
2. A shot inside the paint.

Looks like the Pels are learning.

Now add Scoot to that along with Zion.

We gotta let that go bro. Whatever happens that’ll be on Griffin and his insistence on including Shaedon Sharpe. Plus I think Zion was on the table not BI. And who knows how far talks really got. This season is critical for BI though in regards to if we give him an extension, kind of glad he didn’t sign it early in my opinion. We can a better informed decision after this season.

No

The issue, or 1 of the issues, is you continually present it as a trade we could have made while not actually knowing if it's a trade we could have made.

When it comes out that it was, prepare for me to go in like none ever has.

We got blown out in the 1st half. Our scrubs battled back and made it a closer game.

Yeah, but what has been hidden by the starters half assing their way to a gazillion turnovers a game are things like taking more corner 3s. A stat I saw yesterday was we were averaging 11.5 corner 3s in preseason vs. about 7.5 last season, and 11.5 would have been near the top of the league.

So the team is changing their shot profile for the better. The starters just need to get their shite together. And if they don’t there are a lot of bench guys willing to play the way the team wants. We’ve seen it with Jose’s infectious energy, you don’t always have to put in the whole bench to get the change of energy and pace you’re looking for.

Yesterday the starters started to play harder and came back a little near the end of their time in the game. That burst of effort came from Dyson and that got Zion and CJ to start playing with a greater sense of urgency.

That was stupid. Anyone can see he has elite defensive instincts from game 1.

Yes but his offense was horrendous. I just hope this translates to the regular season.

Ok, and until then, there's no need to constantly bring up Scoot and this trade we "could have had" since you quite literally do not know that to be true.
