Their picks/swaps could be a lot more valuable by the weeks end. Khris Middleton opted out and Lopez is gonna get a bag from someone. Bucks have a hard time attracting free agents...this could start their unraveling

What do we have left from them? Top 3 in 2025 and their 2027 outright?

Swaps in 2024 and 2026, 2027 first unprotected, and we get their 2025 first if it’s top 4. If it’s not top four, the Knicks get it.

we only get to keep their 25 1st if it ends up top 4. we traded that 1st to Portland for CJ.
we have their 27th 1st unprotected.
we have pick swaps with them in 24 and 26.

Middleton only played in 33 games this year, and he kind of sucked arse. He's a career 39% 3 point shooter and shot 31% this past year. He had his lowest scoring average in the last 9 years, as well as his lowest FG% of his career.
They still were the #1 seed in the east with 58 wins.

I wouldn't be too concerned with getting that pick swap in 2024, or their top 4 pick in 2025.

Lopez isn't going anywhere, and Middleton is going to resign for a 3-4 year deal worth the same annual salary he was getting before i'm sure. with his injury issues he wants a long term contract, and i would'nt be surprised if he took a little less money annually to ensure he gets 4 years.

They have such an old and expensive roster. If things go south this year for them you'll see major changes

The hope is Brook leaves, Middleton handcuffs them with an above market albatross contract, and then Jrue/Middleton show their age. Then Giannis lets Bucks know next offseason he is opting out of his last year and asks for a trade.

Giannis is traded and next offseason and we have 3 shots (top 4 ‘25, ‘26 swap, ‘27 unprotected) at a top tier asset.

as long as Giannis and Jrue are healthy, they'll win 50+ games regardless of who else is on the roster.

If things go south this year, they'll make a trade to bring in someone to replace Middleton, assuming he's the issue. But if they resign him to 4/$130M right now, i would assume that means they believe in his rehab and think he'll be fine. He's about to be 32. he's still got some left in the tank.

Yeah, this is the bet we made. If it pays of it's more likely in the last 2 years than the next 2.

How healthy is Jrue at this point?

He’s getting older and speculation is he will retire at the end of this contract.

Given what is happening with Lopez and Middleton, the chances of Giannis leaving in 2-3 years seem to be skyrocketing.

I still never dug up the podcast to confirm, but I saw a tweet about a month ago referencing Jrue on Igoudala and Evan Turner's Point Forward podcast saying he felt strongly he might retire after this contract. He can certainly change his mind, but retiring "early" so he could focus on other things would be a very Jrue thing to do.

He won his championship, and they had the best record in the NBA last year. Is he really going to try to leave?

very healthy. He’s still a fantastic player. But he could just be ready to hang it up when his contract ends.

The team is focuses on Giannis, Middleton, Lopez, and Jrue.

Middleton and/or Lopez could be gone this offseason, Jrue next offseason, and the ownership isn’t looking forward to all the restrictions in the CBA on high payroll teams.

IOW, the new CBA is creating a situation where the team may have to move Giannis because they can’t afford to compete.

I’m not getting my hopes up for another team to collapse. The Lakers deadline moves fricking destroyed me.

We got a star level player (Ingram), a few role players (hart/ball), and 2 top 10 picks for Davis.

We just botched it.

For jrue, at this point I've accepted a loss and I just want to be surprised about a top 10 pick

They aren't rolling back with the same group. Someone is going to go after Lopez. Not sure who is going to chase Middleton with his age and injury history.

Love Jrue but he was(not unlike CJ) worn out at the end of the year from carrying a larger load due to KM being out.

East is getting better and they are getting older.

Holiday wanted out and would have left if we held on to him. We got a lot more than anyone expected. How we used the assets is another story. But we got a great return for Holiday.

Also add in that we took a lesser package than was offered by other teams because we sent Jrue to a team he wanted to go to and not just to whoever gave the best deal.

IIRC Atlanta was offering way more

I wouldn’t be surprised if he hung it up a good bit earlier than expected. He is married to a former professional athlete that did the same thing. Lauren still had quite a few years left when she retired.

Didn’t she have a brain tumor or something?
