Cam is an all time great Saint. This organization has given him plenty. I understand what he did as a rotational piece. I’d love him back on a 1 year deal @ 6-8 mil but you can’t just throw stupid $ at him at his age. But if this lil girl social media shite is really his try to. See ya bub. This organization gave you a great living including the 4 years before 2025 when you really didn’t sack much.

spread the hit over 5 years

Saints just bit the dead cap bullet on DD, Cam, and Hill. If Saints wanna bring Cam back for a reasonable amount, fine. Why are we suggesting spreading over 5 years for a player who will be 37 before season starts……

Team has over $100M in dead cap.

I understand the spread out contracts like that will be used, save it for younger players though jmo.

Could see this coming a mile away. Cam’s has been talking about getting a bag, yesterday’s price isn’t today’s price, all that shite. Talking about his stats and making excuses for his shitty years. Setting himself up for disappointment really

Now 15+ edges have signed, from high end to mid tier to bench guys. Cams market is set. No team wanted where he wanted to go. Now the Saints will be the bad guys because he explored all offers and we feel the same way the rest of the league does regarding his value

I like the theory that Moore and the staff were fine having some of the old guard here for a year (Demario, Taysom, AK, Cam) but that they’re ready to move on from that generation

I thought for sure we would re-sign him but I don’t think we do

how else are we going to replace 10 sacks and his run defense

We don’t necessarily. We draft and we develop and that’s ok. We’re not winning the Super Bowl this year.

I just don’t think it’s probable that he continues to get near that with the cliff looming.

More a risk aversion thing and I’d bet on the probability the drop is this year. One year for 8 to maybe 10 with incentives sure.

He can do year to year or go find some other team that is willing to do a multi year deal. But I think Mickey has been very smart to not give the old guard multi year extensions.

He overproduced last year but also had a couple of lean years so sorry if I don’t shed any tears for him at this point.

sacks

Most were coverage sacks. He didn’t impact anyone’s passing game like Young did. We need an edge early.

Giving cam a double digit contact per year is throwing your future for feelings.

We do need a true pass rusher early. I think its also fair to say, most guys just don't come in and are productive 10+ sack guys immediately.

Abdul Carter - 4 sacks (3rd overall) - solid year overall with pressures
Mykel Williams - 1 sack (11th overall) - 9 games; IR
Jalon Walker - 5.5 sacks (15th overall) - solid year overall with pressures
Shemar Stewart - 1 sack (17th overall) - 8 games
James Pearce Jr - 10.5 sacks (26th overall) - sociopath

I think part of keeping Cam is also to maintain leadership in the lockerroom now that DD left, Kamara is a real possibility leaving or cut or retiring, and McCoy is oft-injured and can't stay on the field.

Why you spread the cap over 5 years because a 10 mil signing bonus is just 2mil a year, chump change for the time being.

This isn’t meant to sound like I’m dogging Cam but what if CKM just isn’t as crazy about Cam being the leader of the locker room as we’d assume?

Not saying Cam isn’t a great leader but maybe they’re not the 10/10 coach/player match we would just assume they are and it isn’t a huge necessity to bring him back in Moore’s opinion.

I’m sure every coach has their own views on what they want out of their locker room generals and maybe Moore feels like some other vets are in a place he feels good about passing the torch to.

If Cam is doing the social media thing maybe he’s said a thing or two in the locker room or to the coaches that Moore isn’t crazy about being a youngish coach. Complete speculation on my part but I think it’s a non zero chance.

There was always going to be the biggest purge after year one. I'm exited for camp like year one of the Brees years. So much competition so many unknowns and changes coming. Just start with ST's. New returners and new punter and Charlie trying to hold it down.
New Lb'ers stepping up. Dline? How the Oline comes together. New bell cow RB. New TE room I think. WRs?
Just a lot to watch this year lol

The draft will reveal some sort of plan they have to resign or replace.

The person whose money is on the line may not have the same idea of “reasonable” as we do, so it’s up to the parties involved. I’m hopeful, because Cam deserves some consideration.

All of these players must not have any self esteem. For a guy who has made MILLIONS during his career and doesn’t feel respected. When a player leaves a team for a better offer it’s business, when a team makes a business it means the players are disrespected.Professional athletes have become egotistical self engrandising tools. The Saints and the fans have treated Cam very well and now he’s disrespected ,you can’t make this up.See you later CJ it’s been nice to know you.
