Cam Jordan end of season interview re: price tag

NOF because the NOS channel doesn’t allow embedding
He says he wants to be here and his wife said yes on the plane home.
As for salary, he mentions around 3:20 that he played for “half off” last season and can’t do that again.
Sounds like he might come back for $12mm if he’s being literal and that’s kind a fair market price for his production. I wouldn’t have a problem with it but I think some people will melt when they hear that

Its a bargain especially if he can coach up the young DE that we draft in the 2nd or 3rd rounds

He's worth 15 easy. He knows it. He won't bend us over but he's saying he's not a Kmart blue light special either lol

Tough call. It’s not that he isn’t worth it; it’s that we have needs at other positions which that money will be required to allocate to fill. Young has shined, and we need more long term answers with that salary dough rather than a one year finishing contract.
I’m torn. I’d love to see him here another year, but not if it costs us signing a NT, LB or CB that is needed on that side of the ball
We also need to address C, G, WR and RB. Lots of positions we have to address

I don’t think he’s a guy you can let walk away over $6mm difference when he has that kind of production still. His locker room leadership is worth the cost. We also have a need for him still because Grando plays more of the drop back into coverage role in the defense.
All 3 of our DE’s would add up to one high end DE contract so it’s not mortgaging the future or anything

You need to think about him and DD as Chase Young and Juwan Johnson last year. You already have 12 million allocated to them, regardless of if they play for the Saints. At the beginning of the year, I would have said eat it on both and let them go. However, they both help you win this division next season and they both are still producing. Give them a 2 year deal, spread the 12 million out and move on.

Some perspective on what they may put into consideration when figuring out the $$$. He’s currently set to have a cap hit of $18.76M due to void years.
“IF” he signs an extension before the void happens, his cap hit from the prior bonuses would be $8.5M.
You pay him the $12M you suggested with a combo of bonuses and salary, and you can easily reduce that 2026 cap burden and still pay him what he’s asking.

That’s a good point for both him and DD. Being able to spread the already existing cap hits into future years will help a ton
When do they void officially?

Cam has a great year. He’s been a great Saint.
This team can’t pay him 12M next year. I absolutely won’t hold it against him if he is able to cash in with another team.

“Cams had a great year…but Saints can’t pay him 12 mill”
Seems odd.

Would Cam play on a one year $12m fully guaranteed deal? Maybe throw in some incentives?
Posted on 1/5/26 at 7:18 pm to Proximo
If you’re playing the odds Cam goes back to 3-5 sacks next year and 12mill is too much for that.
As much as I like Cam you have to move on unless it’s a very team friendly deal.
Davis sin would be more willing to put out the money for because he has shown zero signs of drop of over the last 9 years, there’s a likelihood the he too drops off at 37 but the history hasn’t been there to date.

He’s been an Ironman his entire career except for 2 years ago when he couldn’t rush the passer because of his injury. Last year was because Grantham was playing him at NT
I think the odds are in his favor for closer to 10

This board needs to get out of the 2010 mindset of what a positional player is worth. Cam Jordan is a rotational DE who can stop the run and just got you 10 sacks. He is absolutely worth 12 million next season. That would be a steal at what that kind of guy costs you today.
Posted on 1/5/26 at 7:29 pm to Proximo
He will be 37 in July. What other team is gonna pay him $12M next season?
Posted on 1/5/26 at 7:31 pm to Stamps74
The bengals just paid Hendrickson $30 million for 4 sacks

Cam is one of the best combinations of pass rushing and run defending edges I have ever seen in my years of watching football. I may be biased a bit, but not very much.

I dont want cam in another jersey.
Re-sign him. I dont care. Dude is new orleans football. Do not let him walk over a couple of mil.

The saints aren’t paying him $12 million

Cam and Demario both had sort of eye opening subtle comments today
