Exactly. Loomis is a made man with a stupid amount of power in comparison to his accomplishments.

Exactly. People here get sticker shock but that’s how much QBs cost now. Daniel Jones wants $45MM

He may want that but he’s not getting it lol. They can slap the franchise tag on him for low 30’s.

So, $37.5 million per year. Not bad. Reasonably priced.

Derek Carr -- $37.5 million
Kirk Cousins -- $35 million
Jared Goff -- $33.5 million
Ryan Tannehill -- $29.5 million

SFP still proving that despite his incessant need to prove to us he is the smartest guy in the room, he is still just an internet message board rambler.

That’s a good deal for the Saints

4 years with 100 million guaranteed. He won’t get the full 150. That’s probably a lot of fake numbers to make the agent look good.

If I had to guess it’s probably more a three year deal for 100.

What do you think the Saints goals should be?

For 2023?

For 2024-2028?

And for the next 5 years?

With the way we restructure deals, it's much more likely he gets closer to 150 than 100.

Honestly; was hoping for 3/110 (60-70mil guaranteed). Then we heard the 4 years.. was hoping for 130 (70-80 mil guaranteed).

this hurts because if he's gonna play like last year...oh boy

What I kept sayin...and others. But here we are. Competitive in a sh!t division.
Looking half full...
We have a defense.
We have a decent Oline and Dline if Ony comes back.
Half empty...
Lack of weapons...
Only stud I see for next year is Olave.
Rb room, TE room and Recv room all look very thin.
Lack of FA money right now.
Carr and Allen back together.
Pete seemed lost at OC last year.

I just don't see how.

And our DL without Davenport and Onyamata is scary (in the bad way)

It’s not a large window, but there’s certainly one there. If you can just get in the playoffs anything goes from there. Carr can get this team to the postseason.

We should win the division and make the playoffs. That’s not nothing.

And one could argue that being mediocre in decent cap position with a shite draft and FA market isn’t discernibly different from being mediocre in bad cap position with a shite draft and FA market. Your only other option is to tank so hard and pray the 24 draft class has the next Elway in it. Not good odds.

You've been melting over cap stuff constantly for the last few years, and the ceiling has yet to cave in. Money aside, this was the best football move of the available options, so let’s see how it plays out.

No I said we have no shot, the implication being to things real success.

Celebrating making the playoffs is a loser mentality, especially for a franchise who did what we did under Payton.

Also, we are legitimately just making our future that much worse. Is that cost worth making the playoffs 2 of 4 years of Carr? What if it's 1 of 4 years?

We are going to be a bad team with a shite cap situation for years once this all clears.

We don't even have that option today. We couldn't truly tank/rebuild until 2024 at the earliest (and likely 2025).

This signing just extended that window preventing us from even conceptualizing rebuilds. It's going to cost us successful draft picks and burden us with contracts that can't be cut (like Taysom Hill)

and the ceiling has yet to cave in.

It started last offseason, by losing Marcus Williams and CJGJ. We doubled down with the terrible Maye/Mathieu signings.

This is a chicken/egg argument.

Maybe free agents won’t sign with a small market team that has no qb and no playoff shot anyway. The teams in the best cap position right now are some of the leagues’ worst.
