He looks like a lock for a team desperate for a quarterback, Jets will take the bait

Cross-post from tRant.
Not many successful pocketpassers who fit his size profile.
Not many successful NFL QBs with such small hands, either.

Good pro
Why?
I think he has a good chance to be a good pro.
1) I think he has a ceiling to be a Sam Darnold or Brad Johnson. Good arm and decent accuracy. Won’t be the reason you win, but could be a winning QB for a team that plays defense and runs the ball.
2) I think people expected him to be JD5. But he’s a totally different QB and LSU had him running an RPO which is not what he should be in. He needs to be in a pro-style, play action system. The few times LSU was able to run, he played decently.
3) He’s got a little gunslinger in him, which can be good or bad. I think he could win you a few games with his play, but I could also see him throwing an ill timed interception that loses a game, à la Brett Favre.
4) In a world of NIL and transfers and all that, he stayed at LSU his entire career, seems like a good person and seems like he genuinely likes football. He tried to play through injury this year. I think he’s high character.
I don’t think we should take him, but I think he can be a good pro if he ends up in the right system. If he fell to one of our compensatory picks in the 4th, or the 5th round, then yeah I’d take him. He’s better than Rattler, would be an upgrade as a backup, and could provide trade value in 3 to 4 years.

Shough has shown that he can compete at this level. Nuss may show he is great at this level, but Tyler is our QB. Just go back and look at the throws he made with a porous OL and second and third level WRs.

I don’t see it. His numbers vs good competition were poor. He didn’t seem to learn from his mistakes from his first start in 2021 to 2025.

Wasn’t Jake Haener also named Senior Bowl MVP?
Sounds like a curse to me

I get where you’re coming from. But I think the offense was bad and a bad fit and his numbers were going to be bad. I think he improved initially with his decision making. Then people figured out they could stop the run with four defensive lineman and he went back to bad habits.
Will he be a good NFL QB? Maybe. He needs to find the right situation.
Is he worth a top pick? Absolutely not. But if you’re like Minnesota or Indy or LV, and need a QB, I’d have to think about using a mid 2nd or 3rd on him.

Sure, we have a couple of late round picks.

If he goes before round 5 some team is in a panic.
