It's funny I've seen Davenport explode and bullrush/ragdoll some really good tackles in this league. You see that and just go wow. This dudes athleticism and strength is insane. But if you keep watching a double team makes him disappear and he really doesn't have any other moves.

His run supprt is good to great and he has all the tools to be a pro bowl DE but for whatever reason the lights haven't turned on.

I love the guy and want to see him succeed but being honest he hasn't lived up to the hype. To be fair though there were only like four DEs in the first two rounds that draft and none have really done much.

Bust because he can't stay healthy.

I'll admit, even when healthy, he's no Chase Young or Joey Bosa, which you'd arguably expect for the price the Saints paid.

However, his pro comp was Ziggy Ansah, a raw prospect who took some seasoning before he exploded as a dominant force for a nice stretch (before nagging injuries sidelined him).

So, he's due. I think a 4th year with Ryan Neilsen, and a kick in the butt from the Turner selection, Davenport will put it all together this year.

Davenport has played 37 games. 42% of the defensive snaps. 1,332 snaps -- for reference, Cam Jordan played 1,038 snaps his second year alone

Just remember some of our dumbfrick fans used to shite on Cam Jordan and Hendrickson too

Reminder where each was through 37 career games

the price they paid for him makes him a bust.

I'll ask you again, do you love davenport as a player?

Also, cam jordan was way heavier than davenport coming out.

Cam played at like 290 his second year. Davenport plays at about 265.
Davenport is playing right end and should be your speed rusher. He should have more sacks than cam had.

Him playing only 1,000 snaps doesn't help your argument. It hurts it. To me it shows he is soft and doesn't love football. It's easy to see if you watch davenport.

I think he has great potential but i just don't think he reaches it in time.

There’s been quite a bit of breakdowns over the years about DAs type players. It seems he doesn’t do the more known approach of having one run stuffing DE and other being a smaller speed rusher, he prefers both DEs to be big and long, and be able to stop the run first

A good chance on why Hendrickson never became a fulltime player as he couldn’t play the run

5 of the 6 players drafted right after Marcus Davenport in the 2018 draft ended up being pro bowlers ..Edmunds, Derwin James, Jaire Alexander, Vander Each, Ragnow. What could've been.

Pro bowl means nothing, but the 2 players we had thought about were Edmunds and Alexander. both have been relatively healthy and had the physical traits to be elite.

James while elite, is more injury prone than even Davenport who people shite on. Vander Esch had one good season and 2 injury riddled ones and even when he was on the field, he was far from elite.

Ragnow fits the need, but mccoy has been pretty good too so i'll defer.

The only concept of the draft I'm starting to feel teams are taking is the 2nd contract, pass rushers and QBs are being paid BANK. Teams are reaching for them higher in the draft to secure a cheap viable option for 5 years whereas paying an elite safety, CB, LB is easier

Cornerbacks are right under qbs and pass rushers.

I really think that's who the saints were trying to trade up for.

I think they wanted horn or farley.

That much is obvious... I think we had our fingers crossed for either Horn or Newsome II to drop far enough where a trade was feasible... Newsome went later on but Horn and Surtain going in the top10 probably pushed a lot of players up team draft boards and the price got too rich

I don’t think you can rate drafting a DE off that since Cam Jordan is getting older.

we already brought in a possible Jordan replacement...Kpassagnon, or how ever you spell it...

realistically, it's possible we have BOTH of their replacements already on the roster now

Please explain.

You are comparing a 290 left end and a 265 pound right end.

Davenport only playing 1,000 snaps isn't a good thing.

Davenport has been very underwhelming.
