10th, but that was Ditka who also took Turley at 7 and traded two years of picks for Ricky Williams.
That was a head scratcher then and it still is today.

It was a ridiculous amount, but not quite 2 drafts. It was two 1sts, two 3rds, a 4th, a 5th, a 6th, and a 7th.
We offered way more than that to try to move up to 3, but the Bengals said frick you and drafted Akali Smith. xD
Edit:
Even still, all of those picks basically amounted to Bailey and Arrington, who were both 1st rounders, so in effect the trade was Williams for those two.
We'd later get value back for Williams though, and actually came out ahead in the end I think, getting back those two 1sts.

Oof. Just posting him comparing him to Beasley makes me not want him now. xD

We’re at the point of the draft now where everything is nitpicked and everyone outside of the player we take will be a Pro Bowler while ours will be a bust, no matter who it is.
A month ago, when Bailey was projected to go high as 2, this board would have been falling over themselves to draft him. Now all the woes start whenever he starts to become a legit target at 8. Delane, the same thing.

My reply was a joke about Beasley. If they feel Bailey is the guy I will be fine with it.

Nah it’s not just you. It’s a collective thing. And it happens every year to a lot of people who follow the draft. All these crazy stories come out about prospects to either bump up guys that have always been a tier below the best players or to poke holes in the best players, which you can do every year. Some of it is teams trying to push players down while agents try to bump up their guys. It’s mostly posturing.
I just always find it funny that no matter what fan base it is, they will convince themselves that whatever player they take ultimately won’t pan out and better options were there. But it’s a normal thing during the draft process. After Senior Bowl, Combine and FA, there’s just not a lot of info to go around until the draft itself, which is why you see people talking themselves into Caleb Downs belonging in the 20s or that Bailey wasn’t a monster pass rusher during the season
It is what it is but the last week of March and first week of April are my least favorite time of the process. It’s a whole bunch of misdirecting with meetings and Pro Days with hardly any real knowledge of what any team wants to do. And then it’s a week before the draft and there’s real info out there again

Forgive me but wouldn't he be more of a stand up 3-4 type rush outside backer if drafted by us instead of a replacement for Cam or Granderson?

ChatGPT with the Shocking Mock Draft, hold onto your butts!
Here’s my personal projection for the 2026 NFL Draft 1st round based on:
consensus prospect rankings
typical NFL positional value
how front offices usually draft (QB/OT/EDGE early)
current buzz around the class
Top prospects frequently appearing in early boards include Fernando Mendoza, Jeremiyah Love, David Bailey, Rueben Bain Jr., Carnell Tate, and Francis Mauigoa.
I’m mocking what teams will most likely do, not necessarily who the best player is.
2026 NFL Mock Draft — My Best Projection (Round 1)
1. Raiders
QB Fernando Mendoza — Indiana
Raiders finally get their franchise QB. Mendoza is the consensus QB1 with prototypical size and arm talent.
2. Jets
EDGE Arvell Reese — Ohio State
Elite traits player who can rush or play off-ball. Jets take upside star.
3. Cardinals
OT Spencer Fano — Utah
Arizona builds around Kyler Murray with a franchise tackle.
4. Titans
EDGE David Bailey — Texas Tech
High-motor edge rusher who can be a double-digit sack guy.
5. Giants
WR Jordyn Tyson — Arizona State
Explosive deep threat. Giants badly need WR juice.
6. Browns
WR Carnell Tate — Ohio State
Big frame possession receiver with elite ball skills.
7. Commanders
EDGE Rueben Bain Jr. — Miami
Violent power rusher who fits a Dan Quinn style defense.
8. Saints
RB Jeremiyah Love — Notre Dame
This may shock people, but Love is a rare RB prospect and the Saints often prioritize playmakers.
9. Chiefs
CB Mansoor Delane — Virginia Tech
Physical lockdown corner to reload the defense.
10. Bengals
OT Francis Mauigoa — Miami
Massive right tackle to keep Joe Burrow upright.

Yeah I looked it up later and we got Grant with one (who helped us win the SB and was good to average most years, so I call that a win) and Sullivan with the other plus an unrelated pick (who was a loss).
Overall I'd say that was a long term win for us as we eventually won a SB with one of those pieces helping while Washington never even sniffed one.

quote:That's exactly the position both of those guys played for us last year. Cam RARELY had a hand in the dirt, nor do he really move inside. Pretty much ditto for Granderson. And Young.

Were not good at picking the project guy.
It seems like Bailey is that.
Can anyone verify that bailey isnt a guarantee vs like a proven guy for multiple seasons?
Seems more of a davenport/penning type of prospect.

That's Keldric Faulk. Bailey had a bunch of production.

I meant moreso in body type/size so still, if he's not a hand in the dirt typical DE, doesn't that lessen concerns about size
Posted on 3/24/26 at 3:30 pm to ForTheWin81
If that's what you were going with, yes he can be a lot slimmer than Cam and still be very effectively. Cam was a bit of an outlier as OLB aren't usually around 285 lbs.
Anything about 240 lbs (more ideally AT LEAST 245 lbs) up to 265 lbs is the range you are looking for at OLB.

quote:Huh? McShay is not very good. He was in Kiper's shadow at ESPN and could not take the reigns as his heir apparent. He now is hanging on with the Ringer while Field Yates took his spot at ESPN. I do not typically rely on his mocks. He has decent evaluations of players at times.
I usually rather Mcshay's draft as the most reasonable, but this one seems way off base.
