This is exactly why I don't get all the crying over how much guys are making is total nonsense. There are always ways around the cap. The Falcons could have signed Byrd if they wanted too.

Just something new for folks to ***** about when it comes to Ryan's or Roddy's contracts or Julio's upcoming contract and how the Falcons can't afford them.

The Saints are showing year in and year out how to work the cap to afford new players. Byrd and Vaccaro are a deadly safety tandem.

This guy gets it at least. And people are saying we cut half of our team or half of our offense.

The only guys we cut that played more than half the snaps in games they played in were Greer and Harper, and Harper is only going to get slower and Greer may never come back.

In just 2 years we've gone from Jenkins and Harper to Vaccaro and Byrd. Not bad.

Where are they getting the cap space from!? Makes me beleive we'll be recieving those two 1st rd picks after all. If not, I just don't understand how we keeping Graham after this PLUS signing our draft picks! Really worried about extending Jordan, Hicks. Don't get me wrong peeps, I LOVE THE BYRD SIGNING! But something has to give.

yeah they really have no clue who our core personnel grouping is. they dont realize we have trimmed the fat and are getting better. wait till we get a great WR in the first and still have graham on the team. theyll be shitting their pants.

OMG, that is crazy money for a safety. I sure hope the last couple of years are huge.
That's exactly what he was going to get paid. $9 million. Been said many times.

Except the Saints got him.

The consensus top 2 FA available regardless of position in a spot of need. This is absolute greatness.

Byrd, Vaccaro, Lewis, + draft CB, Bush, White and PRob.

Defense is fricking stacked.

Even the looming fact that Jimmy, Jordan and Vaccaro will have to be paid soon can't stop me from being happy in this moment.

Not sure if this is a coincidence or if there's something to it, but I think that Saints fans will like this thread on reddit... How important is an elite safety?

Who would have thought 2 years after the defense fiasco, we'd have one of the best DL/DB group in the league..

our weakest part of our defense is LB...haha

LB isn't even that bad either. We just need some depth, probably through the draft, and it would be nice to get another LB that could cover a little better. We don't even know exactly how Butler is going to end up fitting in. Having the type of defense that we could potentially end up having with Brees on the other side of the ball is some pretty exciting stuff.

It has been for YEEEEAAARRRRRRSSSSS too.

Hell if you take Junior out since he really plays DE with his hand in the dirt most of the time(and rushing most of the time he does stand up), it is a very weak group.

Lofton in a good thumper, but Hawthorne is inconsistent and Butler(while hopeful) is still an unknown. And Lofton and Hawthorne are poor and slow in coverage.
