it is 100% inferred. You're taking out the value of moving up two spots in the draft and instead having the Saints move back a spot and claiming that value is "immaterial"
And yet you are 100 percent the only person here that has inferred it that way
Why do you keep saying there’s an order to this? That isn’t how trades work
I would suggest getting in a nights rest and revisiting this thread later, I feel like there’s just a massive roadblock for you right now because you think this is some attack on you or the saints, when it’s truly not.

I definitely don't see this as the case especially in light of the achilles tear.
That is a fair point. It was a good signing for the price and he has the ability to be better than Williams. Is that fair also?

They always go bargain shopping in FA and go all in on the draft.
Ehhhh you say that but they have made some fairly big FA signings in the past, and they try to fill every hole to some degree in FA. They haven't done that this year.

Draft good players with these picks and nobody cares about the price.

Hopefully Drake London falls to 16. London and Trevor Penning would be a great first round haul.

You are 100% doing the same thing.

Maybe not everyone reads and interprets words as carefully

You're looking at the specific details, breaking up the trade into multiple moves instead of solely looking at what we added vs what we gave up since it's just 1 trade in totality
Each individual piece has its own specific value.

I would suggest doing the same, because you are being equally blind to what I am saying.

I don't think we have made a high dollar FA signing since Jairus Byrd. I am not certain of this so please correct me if I'm wrong.
The typical saints FA signing is a guy like Demario Davis who we signed on the cheap or Malcom Jenkins who we signed late in his career. We typically don't go after the big name guys.

We almost have enough first round picks to re-draft Marcus Davenport

I personally cannot remember having two glaring holes on the roster and having neither addressed to some positive degree in FA.
The Saints having some serious holes at LT and WR is highly unusual.
FA isn't over yet though.

My last point here. If I'm judging this move for the Saints I look at it as:
16 & 19 for the 18/1st/2nd/3rd
or
16 for 1st/2nd/3rd
I'm going to arrive at the exact same conclusion either way. The reason is because the difference between 18 and 19 are not enough to move the needle in either direction.

or send one or both for DK and fully unleash Lasik Jameis
Metcalf has 0 chance of happening. Saints are not going to trade a 1st for a WR getting ready for top money.

Bunch we could have gotten both no doubt but paid a ridiculous price. The FA market was thin and over priced this year.
But your right it would not have happened under CSP.

Maybe they anticipate getting compensatory picks or trading Sean Payton and would rather get new toys now?
Someone else said the 3rd doesn't count b/c it's a compensatory pick...this doesn't make sense. These picks matter and have a lot of value. We should anticipate getting more picks to make more picks. The best way to increase chances of making a good selection are to acquire more picks in the top 3 rounds.

We are probably targeting a QB in the top 10.
My melt would be the worst ever seen on this board.
