Great to see the team coming together but it would be nice to have a top 5 pick next year.

Man, I wanted Arvell Reese. He won't be there if they keep winning

So, I'll go with Jeremiyah Love at RB or Caleb Downs for safety

This is the draft that not having a top 5 pick is not that big a deal. Fans are so stupid with their wanting to tank. Once you hit the bottom, there’s no guarantee you ever get up. Building a winning culture is much more important for long-term success. I mean, I wouldn’t have wanted to go 8-9 and pick in the mid teens, but we’re at #7 now, and should finish comfortably in the top 10.

Washington winning yesterday helped. Cincinnati blowing that Buffalo game last week hurt. But we’re currently drafting higher than them, the other 2 4-10 teams. And we all have easy schedules besides Washington who has Philly twice with Dallas sandwiched in.

I know this goes against the “winning culture” I just championed for, but Arizona and the Jets at 3-11 have some winnable games to finish. We host the Jets next week, and I’d rather beat them for a 3rd straight win—especially since it’s at home—but it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if we lost a close game. Of course we’d probably have to lose out for that to matter. And we’d have to lose out to jump ahead of Arizona unless they finish 2-1.

frick it, I still think winning is more important long-term. Especially in this draft—I don’t think there’s much difference between 6 (probably best case scenario) and 11 (probably worst case scenario) that would be more valuable than finishing 5-0, 4-1, or 3-2. And as relatively easy as our last 3 games appear and as well as Shough is playing, with our offensive injuries, I’d be surprised if we run off 5 straight wins to end the season.

Also, no other team is tanking, no matter how much you, as a fan, think they are or should. Those coaches and players are fighting for their jobs just like ours are. “Tanking” can only really come by directives of front offices. And I don’t think the top of this draft warrants that anyway. The worst teams in the league will continue losing because they’re the worst teams in the league, not because they’re trying to.

IMO, the closer you get to 10, the better chance you are getting a weapon for Shough with the first pick.

Love those first 2 picks. Howell is legit. That’d be a great draft.

Howell would be great. He absolutely destroyed LSU when they played.

Can we make some noise in free agency in the offseason?

IMO, our biggest FA target should be an elite guard. We have our tackles on rookie contracts and are going on half a decade of poor guard play.

6. Jeremiyah Love
7. Mendoza
8. Makai Lemon
9. Jermond McCoy
10. Dante Moore
11. Keldric Faulk
12. David Bailey

With Mendoza & Moore being the top 2 QBs on PFF, there is a possibility they both go top 5; which then puts Peter Woods (4th), Jordyn Tyson (5th) in play for the 7th spot.

But, given their schedule, I suspect the Saints are more likely to be drafting in the 11-15 spot. Which would then put Delane (13th), Carnell Tate (14th) & Cashius Howell (15th) in range

How does that “build a winning culture”?

I keep seeing people say this but I don’t see it. Sure, we’ll lose Alontae. But Riley and KoolAid have shown enough to get the keys next year. They’ll likely add someone in FA to be backup.

Pass D hasn’t really been the issue this year. It’s been lack of pass rush outside of Young and Run D. I could see them adding another DE/DT over a Corner.

A sleeper. They’re going to want to add someone to fix the run D and I could see them doing this. But I’d prefer Love, Tyson, Tate (he won’t be there)

Love Stowers TE there. Not a bad draft.
I think this year is the most consensus this board will have seen in awhile as in it seems to be draft almost any position just draft the best available.
