TE is one of the positions with the smallest margin of impact in the first 2 years;

To be fair though, TE's aren't generally breaking 1k receiving yards around the league. It takes a certain offense that targets those guys a lot. We're one of the few where TEs can be featured enough for that to happen. Jimmy was only in his 2nd year catching 16 TDs.

Yes we are ...
Win now means win with Drew.
Tell me who your QB is post Drew.

I have a few Goedert gifs that excite me more (and differentiate him from Gesicki a bit):
Bottom of screen (tries to get back and hit a S at the end too)

Top of screen

Bunch more gifs of Godeert at the following link: Panthers-fan site but good gifs of blocking, receiving, route running, and elusiveness

Here are two of Gesicki (admittedly gifs made to show flaws in his blocking):
quote:

Gesicki isn’t the one that initiates contact and braces for a block instead of making the block. The result his the linebacker hitting Gesicki and putting him on his back before making a tackle at the line of scrimmage.

quote:

His first assignment is to block or at least chip the defensive end, neither of which Gesicki does. This forces the running back to take the toss further outside than originally intended. Gesicki tries to make up for his first missed block with an opportunity to take out two Spartan defenders but completely whiffs on that block as well.

I never said Godert couldn't or wouldn't translate. I'm just saying that it's a factor. And, all of those guys had the measurables. Measurables and big school competition don't make a player, but they help with minimizing risk in the draft

After looking at some unbelievable Jimmy Graham-ish highlights of Gesicki on You Tube, He was my favorite.

So I was specifically looking at Gesicki when he played in the Senior Bowl. He made a handful of nice chain movers in the first half, but nothing jumped out as "special".

Then later in the game, he dropped at least two balls at crucial times, and I was like "Ok, highlights lie."

I've been running the draft simulators and we have to go with a receiving threat at 27. I would prefer we find someone to trade back with in the 1st for just a 2nd rounder as comp.
This mock draft would satisfy most on this board

27: R1P27
TE MIKE GESICKI
PENN STATE

91: R3P27
LB LEIGHTON VANDER ESCH
BOISE STATE

127: R4P27
WR TREY QUINN
SMU

Use the remaining 5 picks on OT, DL, QB, C, and CB or S

Dang, i guess Jerry Rice had no business being the GOAT since he came from Mississippi Valley.

And he didn't even have insane measurables. He was about 6'1-6'2 and ran like a 4.7 40?

I'm not one of those guys, but Godert played at a FCS school (far less competition) AND has lesser measurables.

Yeah could be another one of those small school busts like Jermon Bushrod, Jahri Evans, Teron Armstead, or Marques Colston,

I am sick of mock drafts. They dont mean shite and are basically useless predictions.

I get the need, but I am also not a fan of going TE in the first.

TE in first round would be a disaster.
We are supposed to be in “win now” mode.
TE’s take 3 years to develope (at least two).

Yeah and third round RBs never win Rookie Of The Year.
And teams never have both Defensive and Offensive rookies of the year on the same team.
And teams never lose the first 3 games then make to the playoffs.
And teams never lose the last three games of the season then go on to win the Super Bowl.
Bitch we been breaking the rules for years and that's not gonna stop now.

You need to realize that not all rookie tight ends get to play in Sean Payton's offense with Drew Bress as their QB either.

People that keep saying this need to remember that we'd lose the 5th year option if we did that. The 5th year option on a 1st round pick is very valuable.

I'd rather stay put at 27, pick BPA, and keep the 5th year option.

His highlight reel is very good. Outruns defenders. One handed catches. Balance. Very aware of the ball. breaks DB tackles easily.

6'4" 255ish. I like this kid.

After your cute little rant I thought you were taking TE in the first round.
