if the Saints DON'T take the 1st round pick, if offered, they are fricking stupid... perhaps things would be different if he wasn't already 30, when the season starts, but he ain't getting no younger, and he has no starting experience in the NFL... if you gonna go with someone that "green" you don't do it with a 30 year old....

Great news. I believe in Taysom as well.

What has Taysom shown that he is a credible NFL QB? He is a gadget guy. At least Teddy has shown he can be a good QB (didn't say great).

Well, Sean Payton sees much more of him than we do. Most here seem to lose sight of that.

Taysom hill is on a dramatic upward trajectory. He is light years better than he was just 2 years ago. He has replicated brees prep and time in the building and it’s paying off. Taysom has the potential to be the most dynamic qb in the league once he gets a shot. A true playmaker.

The only big knock I see is his age, but he's younger than Steve Young when he took the reins from Montana to lead the 49ers.

I love the idea of at least giving Hill a chance to prove himself. There's no denying he's got the "it" factor.

What is this alternate reality?

Like the onus is you people to tell us why. Bc the tape from college through now says he’s not a good passer

Ok, so maybe 5 or 6 years before he slows down a little?

You have to remember he’s older, but doesn’t have as many football years on his body as a normal 30 year old NFL player

I know Hill does so many good things for the team, but if he was really the future, why didn’t Payton start him over Teddy when Brees went out?

Hill hardly played because he was the backup and was limited everywhere else. It was his moment, a chance to prove himself. If he was truly the heir wouldn’t they have just let him take over for Teddy? Or is it because you are falling for the lip service of Payton and Loomis? They like Teddy and they paid him money but if Hill was better he would have started. They were going to do whatever it took to win and play whoever gave them the best chance to win. Hill didn’t give them the best chance to win, he couldn’t even beat out Bridgewater. Yet this is the guy you fellas want to bank the franchise on?

Listen I’m all for giving him a chance. If he’s great? Great. If he sucks? Then we get a top 5 picks. I’m willing to bet he sucks. We’ll find out once FA hits. If they sign him to a deal ASAP then maybe there’s some smoke to it. My guess is they slap a first round tender on him to see who bites. I think that’s what they really want

Yeah anyone saying he isn’t a good passer is just being lazy. Is he Drew? No. But his passing is light years ahead of his first preseason here. I’m not afraid of rolling with Taysom whatstover. Especially with how giddy Payton would be drawing all kinds of plays up.

It’s not lazy. You guys just don’t want to face facts. His throwing mechanics are terrible. He had the exact same release as he did at BYU. He may have gotten marginally better at ball placement but he’s still not very accurate unless someone is wide the frick open. The dude is not a good passer and never will be.

Look, I love Hill, but you and most everyone on here are thinking with your hearts and not your god damn heads. Use your eyes and just watch his throws from the preseason highlights. He plays the game the same way he did at BYU. First read ain’t there, take off. If the guy is wide the frick open, throw it. Payton’s offense doesn’t scheme guys open like that. It requires a QB to be quick thinking, quick decision making and accurate. Nothing about Hill fits that, even if Payton were to tweak the offense a little. That works against shitty preseason teams but not against NFL DC’s for a 16 game season. You all are letting the few splash plays he makes a game influence your decision over whether he will be a good QB or not. It would take Payton overhauling the offense completely Greg Roman style for Hill to even make us a 9-7 team. And even then, teams will stop him and then he will HAVE to win a game with his arm. He simply can’t do that. And he’ll keep running and being billy badass until he gets hurt.

Start Taysom. Bring in Marriota as a backup. Draft another QB. Also draft Jalen Hurts in the 3rd to play in Hills current role.

You know what you're getting with Teddy at QB. You also know you can land a likely 3rd round pick by him signing elsewhere in free agency. Taysom has much more upside. Taysom may not fit the QB prototype that we're used to but his style does equate to production.

The only question with Taysom is health. He's been healthy in the NFL but dealt with injuries every year at BYU. If not for those injuries there is no telling how he would have been viewed as a prospect coming into the league.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported today that Saints coach Sean Payton believes that Hill is ready to become the Saints’ franchise quarterback as soon as Brees retires.

Sorry, no way I believe that. Let the mind games begin.

Everyone keeps repeating this, but I’m curious. What do YOU see about his mechanics that are so horrible? Or are you just regurgitating shite you hear on the internet

What is it about his mechanics that is so terrible?

I find it hilarious that the same dweebs in all the other Brees threads who suggest we listen to Sean Payton and the team when it comes to his staying power all of sudden have a fit when news comes out that SP loves Cousin Taysom

Payton has praised Hill many times in the past

The question is, is Glazer drawing a conclusion based on previous SP statement. Which makes sense considering Drew’s recent statements, they need something to talk about

Or

If SP just told Glazer this, which would be odd timing - then it’s going to do nothing but drive Hill’s price up even more as a RFA. Either trying to get his guy Hill paid or driving up the price for tender purposes. Bc why would you put the league on notice of Hill is a QB of the future

This sounds like glazer running with the stuff Payton said about Hill months ago. Not new news

I'm not sold on Hill as a starting QB because I have watched a similar guy with his skillset fail miserably. His name was Kordell Stewart (slash).....

There was a big difference playing spot duty at QB and defenses preparing for you week in and week out.

Teddy is 27 and Taysom is 29.....We have seen the success with Teddy as starter and know the results. We have no idea what the team would look like with Hill as starter.

Whatever happens, I do believe we should move on from Brees....Love what he has done for the franchise, but we need to move on from him!

It's the GB-Brett Favre situation all over again, we just don't have a Rodgers on the roster

Teddy is not the guy you want moving forward. Give Taysom his shot and if he fails, so be it.

Well, at the same time this particular subject is pretty divisive since we have been spoiled with a QB that will go down as one of the GOATS. We all knew it was coming. Once Burrow and Tua are gone the rest of these guys are a crap shoot at best, a bust would not surprise me. I hope stay away from Hurts.

also to GS, Glazer did also lay out the CAP issues as to what might happen here.

I don’t know that “build”. around him is accurate. We just keep going forward as we have been. If Brees doesn’t retire, , he’d obviously be older than Hill. It seems to me they’re making a smart move for now.
