Really? Brock bowers was/is on another level.
How many sure fire “elite” DEs have been busts compared to “elite” TEs?
Imma go on a limb and suggest TEs have a much higher success rate compared to expectations.

Relative to worth, a single elite TE like Bowers came once in a generation, yet somehow at the end of the day --- I think most teams would prefer Jared Verse over him despite not breaking rookie records. Its just the value of the position and how it affects everyone else. A singular talent won't carry a team if the entire OL is in shambles, but a singular DT/DE could definitely make a difference.
Since 2000 1st round TEs:
2000:
Bubba Franks 14th
Anthony Becht 27th
2001:
Todd Heap 31st
2002:
Jeremy Shockey 14th
Daniel Graham 21st
Jerramy Stevens 28th
2003:
Dallas Clark 24th
2004:
Kellen Winslow II 6th
Ben Watson 32nd
2005:
Heath Miller 30th
2006:
Vernon Davis 6th
Marcedes Lewis 28th
2007:
Greg Olsen 31st
2008:
Dustin Keller 30th
2009:
Brandon Pettigrew 20th
2010:
Jermaine Greshem 21st
2013:
Tyler Eifert 21st
2014:
Eric Ebron 10th
2017:
OJ Howard 19th
Evan Engram 23rd
David Njoku 29th
2018:
Hayden Hurst 25th
2019:
TJ Hockenson 8th
Noah Fant 20th
2021:
Kyle Pitts 4th
2023:
Dalton Kincaid 25th
2024:
Brock Bowers 13th
All things considered, you rarely ever seen a top 10 TE taken and more often than not -- they're not that elite when they are taken there.
Winslow, Davis, Ebron, Hockenson, and Pitts
- I'd argue and say only Davis was worth it and that's generous (one single 2nd team all pro).

That's 7. Add Ward, Sanders, and Dart, and you have ALL 10 PICKS!

I'm feeling like he'll be the best player on the board at #9.
Ward
Sanders
Hunter
Carter
Graham
Campbell
McMillian
Johnson
Could very well be the top 8 off the board. Maybe throw in a wild card (That usually happens) and Johnson or McMillian drop but I still rank Jeanty above them.
I'd be 100% onboard with Jeanty at #9 unless someone like Carter or Graham falls but I do not think they will.

I agree if Graham or Carter are there at #9 you take them. I just do not believe they will be there because they are so good at highly valued positions.
Jeanty is the much better player with a higher ceiling at his position than McMillian or Pearce Jr. In fact Jeanty should and may go higher than #9 but RB's have been devalued over the last few years. That may be changing but IMO he has a good chance to be there at #9.
If Johnson falls out of the top 8 I could see the Saints drafting him at #9 but I don't think he rates higher at his position that Jeanty does are RB. I just think the Saints will talk themselves out of the better player for a need player. That could happen with Pearce Jr and McMillan also if there are all there at #9.

Warren will give the team that selects him 10 years of high level play.
You have absolutely no way of knowing this

I guess technically speaking no you don't' but,
I trust what scouts and analysts have to say about him.
quote:
“When you ask about the different prospects in their building, Penn State spends about two sentences on Warren because not much needs to be said. Elite player, elite character.” – AFC director of scouting

He imprints on games with alignment versatility, allowing opportunities for play-callers to stress the defense.
These almost exact words came out of Kellen Moore's mouth when asked what kind of offense he likes to run. We want to stress the defense
Derek loves to check down and Rattler relied heavily on his TE's when playing (mainly because the WR's were decimated with injuries but still)
NFL.com
Is he a reach at #9? maybe, maybe not depending on how the TE is valued as a weapon in the new offense.

Tetairoa MCMILLAN. Doesn’t run the best route or create separation, but relies on his size and impeccable hands to make the play.
This is telling the world, DO NOT DRAFT!!!. If he can't run routes or create seperation we don't want him.

The only TE worth a #1 pick was Brock Bowers last year. This guy
ain`t close.
if Brock Bowers were 6'6" 260 he would have went in the top 3.
But he was barely 6'3" and weighed 243.

Last great te got picked ahead of Chase, how’d that turn out for the Falcons? I thought they were stupid as hell for picking a te before the top receiver in the draft.
Eric Ebron and Vernon Davis were both picked in the top 10. Ebron was a bust and Davis was ok but never came close to living up to where he got picked.

I agree. Only time I'm picking a tight end that high is when it's a guy like bowers.
I called mcconkey mini bowers last yr and people on here acted like they didn't know what I was talking about.
Just look what both of them did this yr.
