When you live near Chalmette, chose a day to visit the battlefield not by the calendar day but by the foggy weather. No one else will be there, and the feel of the place is better (no levee, no factories) just fog.
Something else to see in context is the Florida Battery over in Pensacola. There was one upriver from where the battlefield is, and it would have worked back then.
And if you are coming down from Tennessee Alabama or Mississippi, take Natchez Trace parkway.

The fact that it hasnt been made into a movie is a huge indictment of Hollywood on multiple fronts

Lived down the street from a guy that had a beagle named Packingham after the British general that was killed in this battle.
