Seems like it’s mostly backlash against people acting super douchey about going there.

The same people are too cool for Telluride in the winter.

Sure everybody likes somewhere that is off the beaten path and not so commercialized, but these places are because they're good places to visit. I'm sorry I don't want to spend 12 hours researching the best places nobody knows about, Stacy. I have more important shite to do.

How is it at the end of November? I'm planning a beach trip but may make it a group trip and just rent a house for my birthday. I haven't been to 30a in a while. Last few trips were Destin, PCB or Orange Beach.

I like both those places, but the water at both of them and the sand on St. George aren’t nearly as nice as South Walton Co. Those places are affected by the outflow from the Appalachicola River and that giant paper mill at Port St. Joe.

Question is, do people still hit up Destin if 30A is the new hot spot?

We still go to Destin 2-3 times a year. Love it. Did 30A once or twice, went all the way over to Cape San Blas a couple years back... just prefer Destin.

Never once in my life have I ever heard it referred to as "30A" and I have lived in Florida myself and had relatives who have lived in the panhandle for 40 years. None of them ever called it "30A." What kind of trashy slang is that?
Have you seriously not seen the 30A stickers on the back of SUV's for the last fricking decade?

I’m sure locals don’t call it that. It’s all the tourists that think a 30A sticker makes them so cool

30a crowded lol. Not at all.
Destin is the crowded area. Traffic sucks there too.
I get to 30A to avoid it.
Go in April and September/October and crowds are nothing.

Rich people can be trashy, too - especially the people pretending to be richer than they are.

We frequently travel the Caribbean and Europe and I think 30A is just fine for a lower key trip, especially with other couples. I’m not a huge fan of how crowded it can get during busy times but I wouldn’t put my nose up at it.

A lot of families will go there to spend the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s not as empty as you would expect it to be, but much much better than it is in the summer

We usually go in August, it’s hot as hell, but schools back in session so it’s not crowded.

This is the way to go.

End July, Early August

Who do you people hang around? I don’t know a single person who acts douchey about going on any vacation. Comments like this just scream inferiority complex.

Candidly we've explored/are exploring other domestic options for the long term, but I don't think we'll give up on it anytime soon.

I just got back from La Jolla. It's beautiful but 30A beaches >>>>> La Jolla for just casual beach goers like me. If you are a surfer La Jolla >>>>> 30A beaches.

Yea it was nice when you could pay a premium and hit Seaside in July with a fraction of the people in other places…..now the crowd is basically the same as everywhere else and it has lost its luster.

I lived there for a few years and I despise that place. It's a very awful place to live. Perhaps visiting there is ok but living there absolutely fricking sucked.

Not trashy at all. Way too expensive when I can do Europe/Caribbean far cheaper.

Used to go religiously until the crowds went ridiculous. Now, it’s SGI and local charm.
